LongwoodBuck is going through and applying donor boosts to Sportsbook currency; we'll call them ... ah ... I don't know -- this is their symbol -> ¤

Here are the rules we're applying:

$1 : ¤100

2013, 100% the above rule
2012, 75% the above rule
2011, 50% the above rule
2012, 25% the above rule

There will be additional bonuses for those who have given every year we've been doing it (and for those who have only missed a year or two).

@jlb1705 or myself (jlb, if you want to adapt and post what I threw on dev, that would be super) will post a how-to guide to the FAQs forum demonstrating the ins and outs of the Sportsbook, it's much more powerful than vBookie.

Currency values are all lower because we want wins and losses to really be meaningful. Events will follow general Vegas guidelines as far as odds go, so we hope there will be risk as well as reward.

If you go bust, the automated Bookie assistant will break your legs give you another ¤500 to start from scratch. So the fun never has to end.

@MD Buckeye has populated some long term events in the system. At ¤1000 each (for the moment) none of us are too likely just to drop our whole roll on something that will take a full season to pay out, but doesn't hurt to throw around ¤10 here and ¤20 there for the long play.

We will be (@BB73, MD, jlb, and/or one of the other bookies) populating it with imminent events (Buffalo, other pro and college games, other sports) with quick payout turnarounds over the next couple of days. If you care to play, definitely keep an eye on things, and watch out for that FAQ.

@Clarity I'll get that tutorial up sometime this evening.

Also for those interested in short-term events I'll be posting some Barclays Premier League events for the upcoming match week. I plan to do those throughout the season, as well as a number of other soccer bets for World Cup Qualifying, the League Cup, the FA cup, and maybe some others as well. If there's a soccer event you want to be on get in touch and I'll see about adding it.

@Clarity I've posted the Sportsbook How-to, complete with screenshots. I only changed a small amount of the text that you posted on the dev site - mostly getting rid of items that spoke more to XF admins than regular users. I also added a couple paragraphs on the key differences between Sportsbook and vBookie, mainly focusing on commenting, the lack of event threads and dynamic odds. If there's anything I missed or anything you'd have me say differently, just let me know.

Terrific, thanks so much. I'll take a look at it tonight. I really hope people check these FAQs out, particularly that one, but we've got a place to direct folks with questions.

Do we have announcements like the banner that was on the dev site, or is that something that has yet to be installed? I don't seem to be able to create announcement - I'm not sure if that's an ability I had on vB or not. Anyway - announcement pointing people toward the FAQ forum might direct some traffic in the right direction. Right now it's kinda buried since it's nested in the Administrative forum.

This is a very very small thing, but down the road when there's time...

I just created my first soccer bet on here. If it's categorized as soccer it gives it the Major League Soccer logo, which is a bit odd for events that are mostly going to pertain to other leagues and competitions. Is it possible to have this replaced with something more generic at some point?

I have a BPL logo I can use there, and can rename the category appropriately, if you don't see yourself adding MLS events (they could go in Misc either way, actually). I'll do that tomorrow. Treat 'Soccer' as if it's BPL specific.

I was definitely going to do more BPL bets and probably few if any MLS events. I was also thinking about FA Cup, Champions League, World Cup Qualifiers, etc. Can we maybe have a BPL category & logo, and then a generic soccer category & (FIFA?) logo?

Or I can just use Miscellaneous for non-BPL soccer. Whatever makes life easier.

Maybe I am missing something here...but it seems like some events are open for way too long. FOr example, the BPL relegation bet says it is open until May 11...what is the point of betting before that? And why keep it open until the last week of the season? DOn't you want to close that like this weekend and have it just pay out then?

That can certainly be adjusted. I'm tagging @jlb1705 here as BPL is his baby.
