Re: Lakeland (Florida) to play in Ohio vs USA Challenge <HR SIZE=1>The football teams in Florida have too much team speed for Ohio teams. The Dreadnaughts will be a great indication of this fact when they play St. Xavier.

Too bad Glades Central was not invited to participate in the Ohio vs. USA Challenge.

Actually, I would have loved for Glades Central to participate. It would have been a great opportunity to show all of that talent how important football is in the state of Ohio. I'm sure that an unofficial visit to the campus could have been arranged.

Kelly Baraka and Charles Rogers were two faaast mofo's. It's to bad they both liked the pot a little tooooo much (or alooooot tooo much). Baraka ruined his collegiate career because of it, and Rogers is ruining his NFL career right now. So the next time somebody tells you pot is harmless, tell them they are full of you know what.

Great article though. I really can't stand when people from the South talk about the "Southern speed" crap. It irritates the hell out of me. Everytime one of them says that to me I just say I guess all that inbreeding down south made the people faster.

We all know the public education system in the south isnt what it is up north. That is my theory on why idiots keep saying that football players from below the mason dixon line are faster than there neighbors from up north.

Look, if you are going to crack on an education system then please understand the difference between "there" and "their'.

I could care less about this argument. I have found out that the "speed" issue is something that Ohio State fans take very, very seriously and they get very offended when you mention "southern speed", so I won't even try and defend it. :wink2:

As one of my northern English teachers once told me, "If you could care less, then do so!".

Eventually I came to realize that one should say "I couldn't care less", but it took many years of hearing the blather about southern speed. :wink2:

when the league is enamored with our northern speed, and that doesn't include our fastest example yet, Teddy Ginn, I'd say southern speed is quite overrated. No doubt that you guys play a fine brand of football in the south, and do so at a higher volume than Ohio... but Smith, Ginn, Kudla, Hawk, Carp show that top Ohio talent is just as elite and fast.
