Sparty (straight up) at tOSU (ov/un 129.5) Sun 4 CBS

Best game of the year in my books. Great free throw shooting down the stretch, aggressive defense converted into transition points, Craft was unstoppable (we need more of Craft driving to the hole for a lot of reasons), and Ravanel had a huge game on both ends. I was really impressed how a combo of Williams, Ravanel, Thomas, and Ross were able to control their big men in Payne, Nix, etc. Really needed this win moving forward, great effort out there today boys! :oh:

Good win for OSU. Hopefully this will help give them confidence heading into the stretch run here. This team can play really well, but they have to bring a great effort. Will be interesting to see what seed they are projected come tomorrow - Lunardi had OSU at a #5, I think they could get up to a #3 if they finish the season strong.

After watching that game, and seeing the spurts Craft and Scott are capable of, I'm not sure how they don't get Scott into the starting line-up.

I know we're late in the year and Matta doesn't want to rock the boat, but Scott has loudly become one of our best players. He's a great on ball defender, he is fantastic in the open court, and he doesn't turn it over. The great thing about Scott and Craft today was, they took turns beating their man off the dribble and creating open looks for others.

It's too bad Lenzelle has been slumping so badly this year, but I really think it's time to make the move. Let Thompson start at the 3, and insert Scott into the starting line-up. Let Smith and Q be the first 2 off the bench to give Scott a blow. The 2 &3 are pretty much the same position in our offense anyways.

 Thatta boy Aaron Craft!

I believe I said he was due for this but he took about 3 more games before he listened. hehe

This team is as Craft goes. When he scores in double figures, they can beat anyone. This only helps DT and the others get good looks. Awesome game by Evan Ravenel also tonight along with some strong moments by Amir. Build boys, build off of this.

I keep thinking Craft is going to get his outside shot going sooner or later - when that happens and he gets confidence in taking it regularly, this team gets much tougher to beat. Not many good teams out there are going to let him get to the rim like he was able to today.

I'm wondering if Sports Illustrated (or Ohio AP writer Rusty Miller) is exaggerating when they're talking about OSU avoiding the Play-In game by winning today.

I don't think OSU was remotely a candidate for the play-in game, regardless of the outcome (most have the team 5-6).

I'm assuming it's just bad writing by Miller or bad headline writing by SI.

While this season has been far from ideal, the Buckeyes are currently ranked in the AP top 25 & have have an RPI of 23. Three of their loses were to the #1, #2 & #3 teams while the other four were all in the top 20. Anyone saying they're on the bubble is delusional.

Today went a long way to prevent a 8-11 seed with a backslide to end the year, but they were making the dance.

I'd like to see someone saying OSU was going to be in the play-in game - I'd assume playing in Dayton to mean having their first game(s) there in the Round of 64 and if they make it the Round of 32. Ultimately you would have hoped that OSU could be placed in Dayton for their first two games, but that is not likely based on the high number of teams from the surrounding states vying for those spots. The fact that teams like Florida and Miami are going to be placed in Lexington if they finish high enough, which moves a team like Louisville up to Dayton potentially, is a problem. Very odd placement of the opening two rounds by the NCAA this year - OSU could end up with a #4 seed and go to Kansas City for their first game(s), even though there will be pods in Dayton, Lexington, Auburn Hills, and Philadelphia. There isn't a location there are opening rounds at that is more "southeast" than Lexington, which is bizarre.

To get an 11 seed we would have had to lose to MSU, IU, Illinois, and the first round of the Big Ten tournament. An 8 seed probably would have been losing 3 of those games.

Those "play-in" games aren't just for #16 seeds anymore, though. I believe last year it was a play-in to for the #12 spot in the 5/12 matchup.

Still asinine to think they were close to that. They were a solid 5-6, and with this win I'd say they are trending towards a 5 or 4 with a decent Big Ten tourney run (which seems very plausible).
