For anyone who installed this in the past, there's a new version of SAproxy which brings you current with the 'rules' created by Spam Assassin. Slightly improved recognition on an already (IMO) effective system.

Anyway, just a heads up.

* Requires WinXP/2000, and only works on POP mail accounts (not webmail, AOL, etc.)
 
I have for a long time resisted getting pop up stopper software(I have no idea why?) I thought this might be a good place to ask. What does everyone recommend and is it easy to install and use? Thanks in advance...

In those cases I just turn it off, or hold left-shift (or whatever it is - Control maybe?) to bypass the blocker.

Just to be clear though, SAproxy is a spam (email) killer. Not a pop-up blocker.

On another note, does the thin white border around usernames bug anyone?

C-Dog: Thanks for the update on SProxy. It has been about 98% effective in blocking $h!t e-mail (one spam did get through today, but i was able to recognize it as such immediately and delete it).

As for the white border around the names, I did notice it and it doesn't bother me...in fact it does make the names a bit easier to read.

BuckNutty, I installed the pop-up stopper Clarity recommended over on Bucknuts one day, and I absolutely love it. I usually run two or three browers at a time and Bucknuts is my home page. I got so sick of that add popping up for the magazine. ESPN is another site I visit frequently that contains a lot of pop-ups. The only down side is as Clarity mentioned, there are a few places that when you click on the link, you have to hold down the control key. Small price to pay to eliminate those annoying adds.

I also downloaded the panicware after Clarity mentioned it on BN on my computer at home and at work (where I am right now :) ). As coxew stated above the ctrl click feature is a very small price to pay to get rid the pop-ups. I highly recommend it to any one. Works great on weather.com where it normally takes three minutes to get thru the pop-ups. By that time the weather has allready changed again. Are'nt Ohio spring/summers the best :mad2:

Or you guys can start using Mozilla web browser. It has built-in pop-up stopping capabilities and I haven't had a problem with it accidentally filtering out valid links where you need to control+click.

Mozilla is also much safer to use in many cases than Internet Explorer.

They're both good browsers but I use Mozilla 90% of the time.
