Southwest Region vBet and Discussion

Illinois could be winning this game if they had any type of offensive strategy....

I completely agree. McCamey dribbling out the shot clock is painful to watch time and again. The whole is much less than sum of the parts on that team. A 5 with a nice outside game, a couple nice 4's in Davis & Richmond, a couple solid shooter in Paul & Richardson, and a nice (although over-rated in my IMO) PG in McCamey. Just doesn't add up.

Thanks to the Morehead St and Richmond upsets, Kansas can reach the Elite Eight without playing anyone higher than an 8 seed.
... and thanks to the VCU & FSU upsets, Kansas can now cruise into the Final Four without having played anyone higher than a 9 seed. There is even a possibility (a good one) they could wind up opposite Butler, an 8 seed, to reach the title game.

The toughest possible opponents left before the title game are Florida (who was overseeded as a #2, IMHO), BYU (who earned a #3 based largely on a body of work which included a key player that is no longer a member of the team), and Wisconsin (a good, but flawed team that is beatable outside of the Kohl Center). The other #1 on that side of the bracket is already gone.

So consider:

Kansas road to the title game: Richmond, VCU, and Butler. Or, if you prefer (two of FSU, Florida, or Wisconsin - all of which Ohio State has already beaten soundly this season).

Meanwhile, Ohio State's road to the title game: Kentucky, North Carolina, and Duke.

:ohwell:
