Honestly if all we can score is 17 or 20 points then I'll be kinda pissed. I'm not saying we are a lock to win, but I honestly think that we should be able to score at least 3 TD's vs. USC this year. Expierence at QB, talent and depth at RB, a better oline, and replacements to their defense.
I'd be thrilled with a 3-2 win.

Much has been made of Matt Barkley's apparent penchant for throwing interceptions during Fall Camp 2009.

Crazy thing is, nothing could be further from the truth. In 486 passes during 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 drills in training camp, Barkley threw just eight interceptions.

Yes, you read that correctly: eight picks in 486 throws -- against one of the country's best secondaries, to boot. Sure doesn't seem like an onslaught of interceptions or a slew of picks, as many members of the media are painting the picture.

Barkley's 486 throws -- he completed 301 of them for a 61.9% rate -- is a little bit more than a typical season's worth of attempts, so eight interceptions would be a phenomenally low number in the grand scheme of things. And to make it even more calming is the fact that Barkley won't be facing one of the nation's top defensive backfields week-in and week-out, like he does in practice each day.

When looking back at previous seasons, Barkley's stat line from training camp puts him on pace -- if not at an even better rate -- than USC's quarterbacks in the past seven years. Take a look:

Matt Barkley ('09 Fall Camp): 301-for-486 ? 61.9% ? 8 interceptions
Mark Sanchez (2008 season): 241-for-366 ? 65.8% ? 10 interceptions
John David Booty ('07 season): 215-for-340 ? 63.2% ? 10 interceptions
John David Booty ('06 season): 269-for-436 ? 61.7% ? 9 interceptions
Matt Leinart (2005 season): 283-for-431 ? 65.7% ? 8 interceptions
Matt Leinart (2004 season): 269-for-412 ? 65.3% ? 6 interceptions *Heisman Trophy winner
Matt Leinart (2003 season): 255-for-402 ? 63.4% ? 9 interceptions
Carson Palmer (2002 season): 309-for-489 ? 63.2% ? 10 interceptions *Heisman Trophy winner

Your fellow Trojans on wearesc.com saw through this silly article. The fact that you posted it here doesn't help your credibility. You are comparing practice stats to game stats? Please. Don't insult our intelligence.

The fact that your official web site took the the time put together this drivel should concern you as a fan. They're spinning and you're buying.

Heard Mike Adams is suspended. True?
True...2 games. While it hurts from a talent and depth standpoint a bit, he hasn't really been in the discussion for a starting spot since summer camp began. Still not sure who the starting LT will be, but both Shugarts and Andy Miller have been getting solid reviews. I was really hoping Big Mike would step up and become that LT, but we'll have to wait.

ESPN blogger Ted Miller's opinion on Corp and Barkley

More confirmation that Corp is injured, which creates some interesting questions. Will Barkley or Corp start against Ohio State? Will Carroll rotate QBs? Will Barkley be benched if he has a dismal performance? Will Mitch Mustain's mother complain?

Pac-10 - ESPN

Ted Miller: Let's understand the bedrock of this decision first: Aaron Corp is injured. It is unlikely he will be full speed by the opener against San Jose State on Sept. 5.
If Corp never got hurt, despite the gist of what the USC coaches are saying, he probably would have started the opener.
Now, the Trojans coaches have a couple of strategic issues at work here within their locker room: 1. They don't want it to seem they are going with a stop-gap solution; 2. They want Matt Barkley to go into the season feeling as confident as possible -- and his teammates to feel the same.
So Pete Carroll anointed Barkley. For now. Unless he doesn't play well.
This is not to say that Barkley isn't special. It's been clear for a while that Barkley's refined talent, poise and intelligence have intrigued Carroll and his staff.
My sense is that the USC coaches believe Barkley might actually go out and kick butt, first against San Jose State and then at Ohio State. And, if so, that means "away we go" with the next big thing in college football.
And if he doesn't? Corp's leg should be ready to go -- or at least a lot better -- before the Sept. 12 visit to the Horseshoe.
