I just don’t think it’ll go well for Hartline. I’ll be honest I don’t think he’s a head coach or a coordinator.

I think he knows WR very well and was the best at that but otherwise he shouldn’t have taken this job. Then again, it probably wasn’t going to get better for him because he couldn’t stay the OC here with his lack of experience.

Yeah, I get it but I don’t think Hartline is some sort of offensive genius either. Hard spot for Hartline because if he’s a young coach he should have experienced proven staff but that’s his issue for hiring someone that clearly isn’t very good. So now there’s two individuals who haven’t had much success as OCs trying to figure it out.

Anyway maybe I’ll be wrong but something doesn’t sit right with me about Hartline in terms of being a head coach or OC. No clue what it is but I have a lot of doubts.

For example James Laurinitus I have a feeling he’s going to be an elite HC one day. I just don’t get that feeling about Hartline.

Tim Beck was an awful hire and that falls on Hartline. Not sure how or why that’s who he landed on.

I will say Dabo had an incredible run as HC and was VERY limited on X’s and O’s. He spent several years as a WR coach at Clemson and took the job after they finally moved on from Tommy Bowden. Obviously Clemson is in a terrible spot now, but I always viewed Hartline as a CEO style coach that recruits very well. But if you’re a CEO style coach, you need to hit on Coordinators and position group coaches. I like the roster Hartline pulled together but his coaching staff is lacking IMO.

The wisdom of crowds isn’t always wisdom, but when it comes to Tim Beck it is.

Yeah Dabo had two coordinators for a while that are now head coaches in major D1 football. Then had to move on from them and it’s been a shit show since.

Hartline needs excellent coordinators and he doesn’t have that at least on offense. Going to be playing catch up after this year because of it.
