Songs/Albums that Changed Your Life

Good call. Not my favorite Doors album, but it's the one that got me hooked.

Zeppelin had the biggest impact on me as a group. My fav all-time band; kinda cool that my boys are starting to get into my "old" CD's and discovering Zep. With each new CD they listen to, I see the look that I must have had when I was younger. While at OSU, I started a tradition (with myself) of listening to either Black Mountain Side or Bron-Yr-Aur every Monday morning, just to start the first day of the week properly. Still do it to this day.

Mile Davis' Bitches Brew opened a new realm for me.

The Dead also opened another new musical realm.

Now the one song that reaffirmed something for me was "Imagine" by John Lennon. It hit a chord (no pun intended) 20+ years ago and, for me, it seems that each year that goes by that song's lyrics become more and more powerful.

BTW, good thread.

I'm not sure what kind of impact it had but ...And Justice For All was the album that really got me hooked on metal/hard rock. I remember playing the cassette single for ONE until the thing fell apart. Metallica has since gone in a different direction but their early stuff will also remain almost legendary to metal fans. The video was unlike anything that had ever been on MTV up until that time... of course that was back when MTV used to actually play videos.

Ride the Lightning was better than AJFA, if you ask me. Fade to Black was the song that made me realize I could like chuckachuckachucka metal (which I really didn't want to be a fan of, back in the day). A buddy made me listen to it, and I begruggingly conceeded it was pretty good. Then, after a while, he hooked me up with Pastor of Muppets.... I realized I was missing something once I heard that album. Top 3 Matallica Albums (in my view)
1. Master of Puppets
2. Ride the Lightning
3. And Justice for All

well.... I didn't ask you.

I would put them:

1-Puppets
2-Justice
3-Kill'em All
4-Lightening

I never listen to Metallica until Justice but once I went back to their first three albums I fould out what I was missing.

Geez, an album/song that changed my life?

Maybe the First Bob Dylan album I bought.

Certainly spent a great many Saturday mornings waking up to Here Comes the Sun.

Got through a divorce by listening to I Can See Clearly Now.

Played the grooves off of Time Out album by Dave Brubeck.

Got past Vietnam thanks to The New World Symphony.

But changed my life? Must have been the first time I heard TBDBITL play Across the Field.
