while i agree that those are choices that the people made, i still feel that its discrimination against them. whats next, are they going to ban hair dye since that's not natural either?
Sorry. But if a person is stupid enough to let any schmoe with a needle & ink use their body as a canvas, and then further deform themselves by sticking metal studs in their face and deforming their earlobes with rings, then those people have earned their place at the bottom of the societal totem-pole.

There is a reason we watch people of other cultures deform themselves on National Geographic and think to ourselves, 'Holy shit, those people are fucked in the head!'

A few tattoo don't bother me, personally. But when you get into the realm of the bizarre piercings and ear deformation and ink from head to toe ... then yeah, sign me up! I don't want the freakshows living next to me either.

Dipshit. Don't worry, with all these tatts, no one could ever ID you for a crime.

So, they could refuse to rent to me because I wear jeans or T-shirts? I don't think so...
Yes. Your jeans and T-shirt is not a protected class. Also, rules vary (at least here in Ohio) depending on the number of units. 4 and above has diffrent laws than 3 unit complexs and under.

what is the main issues with having tattoos or piercings?

I'm just wondering because i love tattoos, i have 7 of them right now, no piercings, but if i could - job wise and money wise, i would be covered and also have a few piercings.

Would that change who i am now? No. So why are you so judgemental on people that just choose to express themselves in that way?

I know alot of people that are covered and they are great people, just because they have tattoos and the piercings dont make them savages. they will help out at any time with any problem.

and they are stupid why? Just because you do not approve of their tattoos and piercings does not make them stupid, it makes them different from you (not that its necessarily why they did it), which is why this country is great! That is a very close minded statement to make.

I personally have eight tattoos currently and i will continue to get them until i have gotten all of what i wanted. I do not get them to be cool or to express my inner creativity - i have gotten them because it's what i wanted to do at the time, and because getting the tattoos is very relaxing to me

If I may ask, did you give consideration to the concealibility of the tattoos when you got them?

i'm sure to some degree i did, because i have an office job at a conservative place, but we do have several employees with tattoos showing. I also haven't truly decided what tattoos i want on my forearms (5 of mine are on legs, one on each bicep, and one on the back of my neck).

as of now, yes, but i also have some that show depending on what i wear.

like i said, if i money wise and job wise it was ok to be covered with tattoos and piercings. I would be. I fully know that tattoos/piercings can hinder you getting a job or in this instance a place to live, but Dryden said that he wouldnt want anyone living near him that was covered.

i never disagreed with the law they were talking about, i was asking dryden why he would not want someone to live near him with tattoos or piercings.

OK. The "living" thing was a statement of my choice for one extreme or the other, it being an all-or-nothing proposition. That if I had my druthers to choose between two apartment/condo communities, I'd pick the tattoo-free neighborhood over sharing a duplex with the cast of Miami Ink.

Maybe I wasn't clear ... I don't have a problem with tats, and I don't have a problem with piercings. Now, my prerogative is that I think I can go about my life without ever having either done to me, because I don't know if 20 or 30 years down the line I'm going to regret it. Tattoos look fine when you're 25 or 30 or whatever ... but I don't think they look so hawt on 80 year olds though. My complaint was more along the lines of the kids today that are putting those rings in their ear lobes. Sorry, but fuck that. That just grosses me the hell out. I don't even want to imagine what's going to happen when they're 60 or 70? What will they have to do, have all the excess stretched skin from their lobes amputated? No thanks.

My point was more along the lines of how could someone -- such as the genius in the mug shot linked above -- get that far?! How does someone go home and look themselves in the mirror and say, Damn ... I'm lookin' fine!

That's me, I guess ... I just don't get it.

i agree with the rings in ears and what they are going to look like, i think they are going to look silly. :2004: I also agree with you about the guy above, i would never even think about gettting a tattoo on my face or my neck, i just dont have that desire, now on my forearms and my legs, yeah i would have full sleeves, if i could.

Good lord. Another story about people who make personal choices and then expect no consequences.

People have every right to get tattoos, piercings, cleft tongues, etc. etc., but when they do, they shouldn't expect to not be judged accordingly. Some of those judgments will be positive (otherwise, who would get the tats?) and some negative. Deal with it.

One of the funniest things on this thread is commentary from folks who acknowledge they have tats and/or piercings but talk about what looks "silly" - when such adornment doesn't suit their particular taste. Hilarious.
