You kids stay off my lawn!
Mike Ward, one of my teaching buddies from Moeller days (1981 - 2002), just finished sailing solo from Bermuda to Falmouth, England. He took his boat from home port, Hampton, VA to Bermuda with a crew of three. Spent a week riding out a tropical storm and then set out on his own aboard Sea Hawk, a 32 foot sail.

In between Bermuda and Falmouth he was caught in the doldrums for a week making a pathetically slow pace north, then had to ride out three days of a punishing gale with winds in the 30 to 40 knot range and twenty-foot seas.

He arrived in Falmouth yesterday at 14:30 Greenwich Time. Covering something like 3,000 miles in 23 days, 6.5 hours.

Quite a summer adventure.
