Cleveland. I'm interested to see what the eclipse looks like through the clouds. It might be neat. Maybe.

The eclipse should hit around 3:00 that day. Right when schools get out. I told my wife how much it would suck to be stuck in traffic after picking kids up from school. Anyway, they cancelled school that day, now.

By the way, I'm laughing about all of the "OH NO!!! PEOPLE ARE COMING TO OUR TOWN TO SEE OUR ECLIPSE!!!" There was an eclipse some years ago. 2017? 2018? I forget. But we drove to Paducah, KY for that. That was supposed to be the super awesome bestest spot to view that one. We got hotel rooms for about $55. And not cheapo rooms, either. (Not super fancy ones, though.) We were the only ones in the parking lot during the eclipse. Maybe there were a million people congregating at the local observatory. (Does Paducah have an observatory?)
The eclipse lasts less than 5 minutes for totality. Maybe 3 hours of "interesting" partial eclipse. But no one will be watching for 3 straight hours. You aren't going to get an influx of thousands of "outsiders". You might be able to rent your house out for the weekend, but you aren't going to get $10,000 a night.
It's a neat thing to see, and I'm excited for it (even if it is overcast). I think everyone should make it a point to try to see one. But it won't be another Woodstock in your back yard.

Well, there goes my plan to set up a gumbo stand in Hot Springs...

I'm right in the direct line (Norwalk, OH). I work just off of a main road in our small town. So far, we haven't announced any closures for that day...Should be fine though...Right???
I really feel like you should go out to the drag strip. "I was there in 2024, watching from the Big Daddy Don Garlits Grandstand... " I bet the people watching will be reasonably awesome there. (for whatever reason, I only go through Norwalk because of some traffic issue elsewhere and I always route myself on 20 and I like to hit that Rich gas station in that cute little neighborhood just in from the 20/250 interchange, otherwise I avoid your cute little town and its resultant traffic delays like the plague, though I'm sure the folks on Greenwich Milan Townline/601 do not appreciate my driving habits)

My current plan is to watch it from Catawba, there will be some "weather permitting" decision tree type stuff, if the weather is amazingly good (and we have the boat in the water) we might go out on the lake. Nice weather but, maybe not out on the lake nice (I mean this is April 8), either from the boat in the slip on west harber, or maybe east harbor beach? If the weather is iffy, I will probably save the drive and just hit one of a couple rural spots, or maybe go to Mom's house.

I'm upset that I'm not making the effort to get farther north or west. I looked at the schedule of eclipses to see when it would be closer.........I'll be dead.
Ewww. Hmm, that might make me rethink things. I already have glasses somewhere I think from the last one. Damn I was hoping just to lounge on the top of my building and have a few cold ones while it happened.

Supposedly the difference between 100% and 98 or 99% is night and day. It's about 4-5 hours away for me......plus all the traffic. I want to swing it, but it doesn't work.
