Sodom, Gomorrah and Detroit

OK its pretty much official, God hates Detroit and all who inhabit it.

The economy has been devastated, scUM is coming off the worst season in school history, is still in the early stages of the devolution to a BE type mid major and is now adding a losing streak to Sparty on top of the 5 straight to OSU. The Lions become the first team in NFL history to go 0-16, the Red Wings blow a 2-0 Stanly Cup series lead, the Pistons suck ass again and now the Tigers lose a one game playoff. All in about a 2 year span.

The economic stuff doesn't bring me any joy but I can't help but grin thinking of the biblical level of ass kicking they are taking on the sports front.

I hate it. It's roads ate my car once in the '90s.

I liked walking through South-Central Detroit at dusk, looking for the bus station. I saw a run-down building, graffiti-ridden, probably full of losers... an abomination... and that was just the old Tiger's stadium.

I would say people in Beirut but the weathers nicer in Beirut.

I've lived in Beirut. It's safer and has a much higher class of people and culture.

If you want to see Detroit in full wretched hive of scum and villany mode, take a walk through Motor City Casino. If there's anyone possessing full set of teeth and a bachelor's degree from an accredited university in the entire place, you're it. It's a sad, sad place.

Some area has to balance out the luck that has been shining on the New England area for the last few years. The Lions are the antithesis of the Patriots. The Pistons and Celtics are worlds apart and even Boston College gets a quality win every once in a blue moon. I can't talk hockey because I don't know nor care to know anything about the Bruins.

Red Wings > Bruins

But NE > Detroit

I work in downtown Detroit. The best part about living around here is getting to listen to the local sports radio every time a team (or Mayor, or top city council member, or economy) falls apart. I moved here 3 or so years ago and it has been like nonstop fun.

Detroit is the most depressing city I have ever seen. Even Cleveland before the "rebuilding" at least had some character. Detroit is just........well.......really shitty.

I would have to agree with Taos on being the gateway to Windsor is its biggest/only asset.
