I work in downtown Detroit. The best part about living around here is getting to listen to the local sports radio every time a team (or Mayor, or top city council member, or economy) falls apart. I moved here 3 or so years ago and it has been like nonstop fun.

Local sports radio= 97.1 The Ticket (Valenti & Foster) pretty funny
Mayor= Kwame Kilpatrick
Top city council member= Monica Conyers
Economy= Detroit Public Schools
Living here and watching their teams melt down= PRICELESS

I had a chance to drive through Detroit a few years back. Some of the neighborhoods were worse than some neighborhoods in Soweto. There were streets that looked like they had been bombed out. Buildings with roofs fallen in. Trash everywhere.

It was shattering to me to think that any American city could have neighborhoods like that. The really shocking thing is that it is so easy to find pics on the internet, yet nothing is really being done about it.
