Let me tell you how terrible the U.S. is at speedskating (both long and short track) this Olympics:

There were four competitors in the Women's 1000m (Short Track). All USA had to do was beat one person to get a medal.

Jessica Smith finished fourth. USA shut out of medals in both long and short track speedskating this Olympics (individuals).

The Canadians are showing (finally) that they are really a good team defensively. the US is barely getting anything consistently going offensively right now. Canada still struggles to score, but 1-0 might win this one.

Conversely, if the US can hold the Canadians to 1 goal, all it takes is 1 goal (great play, luck, or anything in between) to tie it up. Still in it with 20 to go.

I think the US is super-lucky to not be down 3-0 or worse. I think it'll end up 3-0 or maybe 3-1, but unless Canada lets down or the US plays to its potential, I don't see the US winning given what we've seen through 2 periods.

Yep - Canada's forecheck has been strong enough to keep the US defenders back from really joining the rush, so at best it's usually 3 on 3 or 2 on 2 when the US gets a breakout. That eventually leads to a dump and chase and Canada is getting to every loose puck it seems.

this looks like any one of a number of Anaheim Ducks/Detroit Red Wings teams coached by Babcock over the years. Even if they aren't scoring, they are still responsible defensively. It's going to be very hard for the US to score in the final 10 here.
