Throw that ball-peen hammer this way........

YouTube - Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield

I met him a few years ago when he came to our station for an interview... nice guy... doesn't really seem to age at all. I then I took my wife to see him in concert... the fucking women at his concert were amazing... women all all ages screaming for him and going crazy when he came on stage... and as much as it surprised me, he played loud and really rocked out a couple songs...

Lots of diverse stuff on my Walkman

I had to explain to a kid recently what a Walkman is/was.

That was somewhat disturbing.

Going off on a tangent...
Give me Joe Strummer, Brian Setzer, Chrissie Hynde, Geddy Lee & Stewart Copeland and I'll have a band that I would never tire of.

Oh and you can't bring up English Beat's Mirror in the Bathroom without...

After the Walkman came out, but before I could afford one, we had a school fundraiser with a radio headset for a prize. I was crazy happy to be able to walk around with a gigantic piece of heavy banana yellow plastic squeezing static into my brain and using handfuls of AA batteries daily. I think it had an antenna.

I bet you wore while wearing your roller skates right?

I can remember one year where I really wanted one of these...

Only wore them skating in the basement. Wear those at roller parties and you wouldn't be able to hear the "We Are the World" marathon! That could be dangerous when you're skating arms-linked with a half dozen other girls.

The best summer of my life was the summer of '83, the "summer of love". :)
Although these aren't great songs, these are the ones that always take me back when I hear them.

Music that made the top 40 in the 80's was absolutely atrocious. Over produced, manufactured crap.

Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Stevei Ray Vaughn, George Lynch and Cacophony saved the decade.

Add Iron Maiden to that list.:banger:

I agree that metal was popular in the late 80's, but it too was over produced. Hair-metal/glam was over the top and over produced as well. I was amazed at how terrible most bands sounded live. The only group that was able to pull off a well produced album and sound awesome live was Tesla. I was at the concert they used to record the Five Man Acoustic Jam album. I attribute that album to starting the MTV Unplugged series and giving us instant classics like Clapton and Nirvana Unplugged.

When I look back at the 80's, I think of my peers listening to Cindi Lauper, Alabama, and The Cars while I listened to Metallica and Ozzy. I was always the odd person since I listened to "Devil Music". Little did they know that less than eight years later they would all be listening to the same [censored]!:banger::banger::banger::banger:

I was in 8th grade in the 82-83 school year. It was a good year for 80's pop IMO.
