So. Cal 52 Virginia 7 (Final)

UVA looks like a pop warner team out there.

They look terrible, fundamentally.

YSU would give them all they can handle.

Very glad to see USC dominating though. We need them to show well on every Saturday that isn't the 13th day of September.

Finally, a touchdown. And imagine that, it comes about when the play script runs out, because that was some awful playcalling. USC is blitzing the lights out, where are the screen passes? We are continuing the grand tradition of taking a giant shit in the first game. (See: Wyoming, 2007; Pittsburgh, 2006)

USC's defense is absolutely out of control.

It's like they know Virginia's snap count. That D-line + Cushing + Maulauga + Mathews... It's going to be a freaking battle on September 13th.

The offense is efficient, but nothing spectacular.

I think it's obvious that USC's defensive playcalling is among the most aggressive in CFB. Virginia is starting to figure out how to beat it... Rolling out of the pocket, slants, and screens.

The linebackers are super fast and super aggressive, but that can be taken advantage of. Even Virginia is beginning to figure it out.

This is about to belong in another thread, but I believe that Heacock realizes this and will gameplan accordingly.

Nice to see USC beat the over all by themselves.

I hope Lalich figures it out sooner rather than later. On maybe 1/4th of his throws he showed why he was such a high-ranked recruit. Kind of hard to judge him against that defense though.

One day maybe Mike Groh will learn to call a game. Sophomore quarterback gets his own keys to the offense for the first time - an offense, I might add, that features one of the best RB tandems in the conference - and 9 of the first 10 plays are passes? I think he drank too much of that Texas Tech kool-aid.

I am still not sold on the Trojans as THE team to beat.

I am skeptical about their recieving corps.

You can't win a title on running/defense alone. This isn't Nebraska.

I've asked this of you before - did you ever watch college football before 2005?

This is the first time I've heard someone calling SC a one dimensional team. They are probably the deepest, most balanced and most talented team in the country. They had a need for more speed on the edge last season, which is being addressed by the emergence of Rojo and Damian Williams, a transfer from Arkansas. In fact, these two led the team in receiving yardage in their opener. Their real weakness is probably the youth of their offensive tackles, so our DEs have to come up huge in one on one battles.

This is going to be one titanic struggle and hopefully the best birthday present that I have ever had.

It will be interesting to see USC play against a defense is a pulse.

the 2 times Virginia got any pressure on Sanchez he threw horrible passes. That said, Ohio State has to tackle well or it'll be a track meet....

Sanchez didint really have to make any tough throws, Virginia's secondary was pretty much awful and Virginia had no pass rush

his WRs are not going to be wide open all day against Ohio State's secondary and he is going to have some pressure in his face........
