Michigan State trustee Joel Ferguson says the University's coaching search is about to come to a head, but if reports are correct, it won't be until after the critical "open" period for contacting recruits begins until MSU has its man.
All attention now surrounds Central Michigan head coach Brian Kelly, who twice denied that he had interviewed for the Michigan State head coaching job. Kelly now appears to have moved to the top of MSU's list.
However, certain published reports have Kelly also atop the vacant Iowa State coaching search. Those reports say he has interviewed at ISU once and is being asked to interview their a second time. However, CMU athletic director Dave Heeke has not given permission to conduct an interview -according to those reports - to Iowa State.

Sources: Cincy's Dantonio to get Michigan State job
Cincinnati coach Mark Dantonio moved to the top of the Spartans' list over the weekend, several sources told ESPN.com's Ivan Maisel, and is expected to be named new coach on Monday. The school only said that it has scheduled a special board of trustees meeting for Monday; a 1 p.m. ET news conference related to the football program is scheduled.

Most of the chatter is in Dantonio's thread.I'm surprised there's not more chatter on this. I think Dantonio is a good hire for Sparty. They needed someone who had head coaching experience, had a successful track record of recruiting, would bring discipline and toughness Sparty has been missing since the Perles days.
