Smart Car to US...Finally!

And with a starting price of around $12000 what is the competition?

Apparantly, I should have read the linked article instead of Buckguy's post. :stupid:

Just ignore mine. At $11k-$12k it may sell and make some sense to a few people.

Still, I'm not sure that having a smaller, less useful car just to save $300 a year is worthwhile. My view is that you buy the car you need and can afford -- lots of midsize cars can get 30/35 city/hwy. Gas only becomes an issue when you're driving 120 miles per day in a full size SUV...or when you overdo the beans at Chipotle.

the list price and the market price are two different things. the backorder is substantial enough that you won't be able to buy the fortwo for a price close to the manufacturer's price... that is, unless you're already on the list. the same applied to the mini coopers when they were first shipped to the states.

are you on the list?

What is the use of ....say...a Hummer?
In the city, you can't find a spot to park a Hummer.
Your gas/diesel milage is horrible.
You look like a pimp.(Maybe that sounds good to some here.) :pimp:
And Hummers are still expensive!

What's the point of the golf cart with windows?

Anything bigger than a bicycle will destroy it and any more than 2 full grown human beings will be cramped.....

In any event, my idea of a "smart car" is one that is somehow...oh what's the word? Ah yes....smart. Not to be confused with fuel efficient. Smart denotes some automated or electronically enabled function, like using GPS to eliminate the need for steering on the open highway, or robotic arms that apply makeup so you ladies can take notice of the green light, or providing real-time updates on the location of any law enforcement vehicle, or supplying vibration to the front passenger seat so your prom date can get in the mood faster, or dropping a drag net on the little monsters making trouble in the back seat...you know....smart. Why is this asking too much?
