Skybus Airlines - Columbus

Discount airline Skybus' inaugural flight departs Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Skybus, the new Columbus-based airline that offers some tickets for $10, got off the ground Tuesday with its first flight, a 9:36 a.m. departure to Burbank, Calif.
The flight headed to the Los Angeles-area airport was almost full, Skybus spokeswoman Rachel Escusa said.
The discount airline also had flights to Kansas City and Portsmouth, N.H., north of Boston, on its schedule Tuesday, she said.

From USA Today: However, there is a catch: A policy Diffenderffer refers to as "cafeteria" pricing. Skybus charges $5 for each checked piece of luggage. Like Southwest, flights are open seating, but you can pay $10 for the privilege of boarding the plane first. Food and beverages may be purchased on board, including soda and snacks. Outside food is forbidden ? seriously! And nothing is free: You can purchase a blanket and pillow (and carry them home after the flight if you so desire). The airline also offers flight status messages via email, cellphone, or pager for an additional charge.

With fares as low as $10, no-frills airline lifts off

By Peter J. Howe, Globe Staff | May 24, 2007

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- Richard Sutter was pleasantly astonished when he learned last month that the country's newest and cheapest airline, Skybus Airlines, would charge him just $10 to fly him here from Ohio so he could attend his grandmother's 90th birthday this weekend.

And after landing at Portsmouth International Airport yesterday morning, Sutter was even more astonished by how pleasant the flight from Columbus was.

also I hope the Porn Convention is going on in Vegas :groove:

The AVN Awards are in January-February. They are already over. Might be something else going on while you are there, here's a place to check.

I read about SkyBus yesterday and talked to OCBucksFan about a trip to OH-Hi-O one day for him to see the Buckeyes on home field. If SkyBus catches on, hopefully it will be affordable all the time for coast-to-coast flights. JetBlue has some relatively decent prices as well but gouges on the "return trip" a lot.

you got that right.... cheaper flights back to Columbus means means more home games for me... I hope they add Sarasota at some point.

or at least Tampa... would adding Sarasota mean more potential trips from your Monster-in-law though?
