Skipping School-Big Problem in CPS

I hope you weren't "puking your guts out" during the interview. :biggrin:

I just don't see missing a day of school as a big deal, if you are prepared to make sure that you can keep your grades up. I blew off probably 4 class periods per quarter, but only when I was certain that I could afford it because I knew the material, didn't need the lecture, or had otherwise prepared myself for any consequences.

7 days does seem like a LOT for one year of high school. I probably didn't miss that many through four years of high school, but hey, if Ted's getting his work done and the missed days aren't affecting his grades, I don't have a problem with it.

In Teddy's case, perhaps missing some days don't matter, but in the macro view, there is a direct correlation between missing school and performance. I guess that's where my arguement lies.

Obviously I could have missed more school in HS and college and still preformed equally as I do now, but I feel like I'd be shortchanging myself.

Oh, and in HS, I'd skip classes (Well, study hall, not 'class') as often as possible, and was "sick" as frequently as I could be.

However, my Sr. year, I ended up with Mono and missed the better part of January through March. But, I was only missing 1 class a day, cause I had finished all my other stuff early. That is, with the exception of a year long spanish class, I had enough credits to graduate early, and since I didn't much like going to school, I got out as quickly as possible.

Hey, that's fine. I'll agree with that. in general, kids are better off going to shcool than skipping it. It's hard not to argue with that, unless you are an anarchistic truant. (*cough* BKB *cough*):biggrin:

But every situation is different. I'm not going to hassle Teddy about his decisions because I don't fully know the situation and nobody else here knows, either.
