Going to Aspen next month. Where the beer flows like wine and the women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. :banger:

 Have fun, NF. You going to Ajax, Highlands, or Snowmass? Snowmass is my fav, though I've never skied Ajax (Aspen Mtn). Or are you going to Buttermilk (Not that there's anything wrong with that). In fact, a few seasons ago, the wife and I decided to ski Buttermilk for a 1/2 day Sunday before heading back to Ft. Collins - we had about 8" of fresh and had the black runs to ourselves! It was the first time I was able to truley line up my tracks on successive runs. A great day of skiing to be sure.

I've always favored Mad River...But snow trails definately has a better liquor establishment.

I'm making the trip for the first time to Holiday valley this year. I can't wait to actually snowboard on some "real" snow. It's been a few years since I've gotten out of the state to do any winter sports.

The snows been coming pretty good today and tonight. We'll be hitting the mountain tomorrow morning. They just opened Peak 7 today, so I'm pumped.

At Aspen, I loved Snowmass and Highlands, didn't like Ajax and didn't get a chance to do Buttermilk.

We just did our food and booze run, plus hit up the Breckenridge Brewery and are pleasantly surprised with the prices out here.

Mad River Mountain recently put a bunch of $$$ into their facilities. I haven't seen it since they did, so who knows. (They added the carpet lift for the beginner slopes, an extra run, and dedicated an area for snow tubing)

Snowtrails is fun. My only skiing experience has been at either.

Typically you can get half priced passes at snow trails throush the various clear channel half price sales.

One place I did pick up a pass for is Pean N Peak in western NY. Sounds promising, at least nicer than either Mad River Mountain or Snow trails.
Welcome to Peek'n Peak • Western New York's Premier Family Resort

One thing we do every year is to ski on Superbowl Sunday. Usually a decent day for it, and because of the Superbowl parties, the slopes aren't that crowded.

Mmmmmmhhh! California............Nice

Heading to Vail in Feb. Never been there before. Done Steamboat, Whistler, and Jackson Hole with Steamboat being my favorite so far.

I guess I would prefer Snow Trails for many of the reasons already posted but I have not been to either in a few years.

Taos Ski Valley has some of the best instructors in America! But. The mountain is STEEP! Our blue runs are black most other mountains! And then there is the ass kicking altitude...........base is 9200ft. Top is 11500ft. Unless you are in good shape, you will be lucky to walk at the end of a week!
You can learn to ski in a day! http://www.skitaos.org/

For a 26 year old who has never skiied in his life - how long does it take to learn? That is to say, if I spent a week renting stuff and taking lessons at Snowmass or Taos or something like that....would I be able to be pretty serviceable at the end of the trip?
