Single Game Football Tickets Tips

Hey guys, Ive been following this thread for a while hoping to use it. And this weekend I'm going to get to make the trip from Indiana State. I was wondering if for a smaller opponent like Bowling Green if it would actually be cheaper to scalp tickets. And also how much tickets will probablly be scalped for this weekend. Thanks for any help.:)

They aren't posted on the website, but if you call the ticket office they still have "scattered singles" available, and you can order them over the phone.

It doesn't seem to help your chances in getting better seats by being closer to the window when it opens. Am I correct? I'm just trying to determine what time to get there and merely being able to get some side-by-side is what I want.

I'm heading to Columbus tomorrow morning and I was wondering if you guys thought it would be cheaper to buy from the line or to scalp? How much would scalped tix probablly be. Also what is the chances that there will be tickets available the morning of the scUM game?

1.) The closer you are to the window / earlier you get there, the better chance you have to get better seats...not all tickets are turned in & logged into the computer at the same time, so there are situations where people in the middle of the line (and even further back) have gotten good seats that all of a sudden 'become available'. But typically, the closer to the front, the better.

2.) Yes, you can bring chairs to sit in line, and many do.

3.) You never know whether seats / tickets from the General Public Tickets Office will be 'better' or cheaper (though usually not) than from people scalping. Weather, opponant, seat location, etc. all play a part in how many tickets are "floating around" and available, and what the going price are for the tix.

We have had luck getting decent seats for face value or very near 'face' from people just wanting to sell "extras" and not turn a big profit, but those people aren't hanging out on every streat corner and you'll find more of those situations when the weather is bad (tomorrow's supposed to end up being pretty nice). And usually the cheaper seats are for single tickets or two together in a not so great location. So it really depends. I don't think scalpers are going to make a fortune against BG, but they'll still get people to pay well above face value for 2 or 4 good seats together. And we've bought 2 & 4 great seats togetherfrom the ticket office for face value several times.

4.) scUM tickets??? That's the 10,000 dollar question...and we'll just have to wait and see. If we are still undefeated (and even possibly scUM for that matter) then I've got to think the chances will be extremely thin, but I'll still give it a shot.

BGSU

O.K., the over-all lesson I'm learning from game to game is that you CAN'T rely on how the previous game's Ticket Office experience went to gauge what will 'go down' the next Home Game.

First, tickets for the BG game were sold early in the week (Monday & Tuesday at least...maybe longer, but they ran out of tickets together on Mon. & were selling 'scattered singles' after that)

Game Day Saturday:
I arrived at the Schott @ 7:30 a.m. and there were only about 25 people in line (probably the facts that it was against a not-so-stellar opponant, and that it was also only about 39 degrees out when I arrived...but I was told the first guy in line was still there @ 3:30 or 4:00 a.m.). By 8:30, there were still only about 50 people in line.

As 9:00 a.m. hit...nothing happened. 9:15, the two ticket office employees who provide us with the wrist bands were told that a new policy was in effect starting with todays game...the ticket window will not open until 4 hours prior to kickoff. That means the window wouldn't open until 11:30. (actually, I think this is what I've always read on the internet site as 'the policy', but it has never actually been that way...until now) Anywho, a lot of people did not want to wait another 2-1/2 hours in line so they bailed.

I did come back and watched to see how things would work, and @ approx. 11:15 the window did open (with about 50 or so people back in line waiting) and they started selling tickets. And they obviously got more tix turned in because the first guy in line bought 2 sets of two tickets together (2 in 10A, & 2 in 12A...not bad).

So, though our wrist band friends said that they were told to be at work by 7:00 a.m., and that the window would open today @ 9:00 a.m. as before, this not only was not the case, but won't be the case for any of the remaining 3:30 games this season (according to the Ticket Office...we shall see).

Anyway, this won't affect the next home game as Indiana is a Noon Game, so the window should open @ 8:00 a.m. as before.

Also, my Ticket employee friend said that those of us who are hoping to score scUM tickets via this method should take note that 2 years ago there were no "extra" tickets turned in...zero, none at all. He said people stood in line, were told there were no additional tickets for sale, they stayed in line (just in case)...the window opened later that morning to assure everyone that there were still no tickets, and wouldn't be. It closed and appearantly did not open again. So, take it for what it's worth...just trying to give all the info I recieve...both the positive and negative so everyone can make the most informed decisions possible.

I'll report back after the Indiana Game.

Go Bucks! :osu:

Here's what I've learned after years of buying tickets at the window and online:

1. They'll rarely, if ever, tell you if they have tix if you call them on the phone....

2. Tix are often available during the week, usually early mornings on thurs. or fri.....although for the first game this year, that didn't work. (I was going to the 'schott repeatedly throughout the day all week, starting mon. for that game), but they did have'em on sat. morning.

3. Tix were available online for virtually every game (including mich., but a very short timeframe) for the last two years; that's not the case so far this year. I've been going to their online site at least 5 times a day, at all times, no luck (yet)....

4. Early in the season (esp. before the season starts), and sometimes during the middle of the season, try the opponent schools website, I've not done this, but my bro has successfully done this a couple of times during the last 5 yrs, getting both home and away tix. Did the Illinois game like that in 2002 (our first OT game ever and the NC year)

5. Anything above can change w/no notice, no matter who says what.

Bottom line, it helps to be local, I can get there (the ticket office) from work in 10 mins and from home in less than an hour. I used to call all the time before I went, they would always say nyet, but have them at the window when I drove there immediately after calling....If you can't physically show up, or have someone do it for you, it'll be tough. They've been doing all these things for years, they just don't talk to the public about it, esp. over the phone.

How 'bout those number 1 Bucks?!!! OHMY!

I am going to the Indiana game. I had 4 tickets in the visitor section and sold them. I'm 3 hours away, how early would I have to get there to get some tickets?

There's no definitive way to really answer that. But if you look at the info and responses provided by those of us who have done this at the previous games, it might give you a decent idea as to what the determining factors have been so far.

Brief update for Indiana

Since the ticket office sold pre-game public tix early in the week I didn't have to get up at 5 a.m. and stand in the freezing cold to get tix for my friends  .

So, Monday morning there were tickets on sale to the Indiana game (pairs early Monday, then scattered singles later Mon. thru at least Thurs.)

Then Saturday morning I arrived at the Schott about 7:45 a.m. There were approx. 50 people in line & it was about 38 degrees out. At 8:01 the ticket window opened, but it looked like someone spilled coffee or something in the ticket-exchange slot which took a little while for the workers to sop up. The first person in line got 4 tickets by about 8:10.

So while I don't know for sure he got some together, I assume he did since he walked away with 4. Maybe someone who stood in line could let us know.

Minesota is a 3:30 game...according to the "new" policy the ticket window should open around 11:30. We shall see.

It's Homecoming and "Golden Bear" Jack will be Dotting the i. Should be a great day! :osu:
