should there be an expectation of non-resale tickets being released on the ticketmaster site next week for the iowa game? for the nebraska game last year, tickets would pop up sporadically throughout the week. i didn't check the week of the wisconsin game this year to see whether tickets were released like i remember, though. with the "draw" not being as great for the upcoming game, i'm hopeful that there will a decent selection available at face value.

thanks.

Guide to Life: How to score tickets to an Ohio State football game

1-guide15---osu-tickets-art0-g9a12us2m-1osu-10-um-kek-02163.jpg

Yes, you can get tickets to Ohio State football games.

No, you don’t have to be a Wexner (as in Les), a Wolfe (as in John F.) or a Griffin (as in Archie) to do so.

“There is the perception that we’re sold out, and it’s a long-held perception,” said Brett Scarbrough, assistant athletic director in charge of the OSU ticketing operation.

“It’s just the demand, the aura, the narrative that you have to be well-connected or have tons of money to get tickets. We spend a lot of time just trying to get the word out that you can get a ticket and you can get one through the primary market at face value.”

Not that Saturday seats in Ohio Stadium are a dime a dozen.

Under the school’s premier pricing structure, implemented in 2013, 12 face-value tickets to see the defending national champions play Michigan State in November — at $150 a ticket — would cost $1,890, including fees.

In reality, those ducats will set you back a lot more.

Given the Michigan State game’s stature as the final Big Ten home game — theoretically the best on the upcoming season’s seven-game home schedule — precious few were available for purchase by the general public when they went on sale in July.

To get them now means taking a trip to the secondary market — a sometimes-scary and often-expensive journey.

Yet, as long as you know your options — and your credit-card limit — those precious inches of bleacher space for any game on the schedule can be yours.

Re: Thank you for your membership in the Alumni Association. As a Life Member of the organization, you are eligible to participate in the 2016 football ticket process.

In past years, the process featured a registration period in May followed by game notification in July. Last fall, the Alumni Association instituted a new ticket distribution process and this note is a reminder of that change. There is no longer a registration period for tickets in May, and if you are interested in tickets you can purchase them online on a first-come, first-served basis beginning on July X at XX:XX ET .

As a part of the new process, members will have the opportunity to select which game they desire, although there is no guarantee a member will receive exactly the tickets they want. Members can also purchase tickets to more than one game.

Just sayin': Check your email, I just got a notice when my window is to buy single game tickets. Apparently you can select any game you want.

Fixed that last sentence for you

Yeah, who knows what the actual ticket inventory will be when your allocated time comes to order them. Fortunately I'm getting a season ticket package so I don't have to worry about availability of the single game tickets. However, it wouldn't surprise me at all if getting a couple Michigan game tickets is damn near impossible.

Yeah the new system instead of a lottery seems a grand way to crash the freaking website and piss a bunch of people off. Especially since you are allowed 2 games this year I think.

Ohio State's rash of ticket scams: How to spot the fakes

In the wake of a man charged with scamming victims out of money, The Ohio State University warns fans – buyer beware.

“You have to be careful when buying a ticket,” said OSU assistant director for ticketing Brett Scarbrough. “Your best bet is to always buy from a licensed vendor."

He says every home game dozens and many times hundreds of adults and upset children come to the ticket office emotional because they were duped.

"Sometimes its parents with little kids and they get very emotional. It's not a fun part of what we do," said Scarbrough.

Take a look at two tickets. One is bogus. Can you spot it?

osu%20ticket.jpg

The similarities are separated by the font size and style of the hologram. The lower ticket is a fraud.

OSU Ticket Officials give some helpful tips:
  • Look for holographic strip… but remember even that can be duplicated.
  • OSU has a ticket exchange that works like Dream Seats and Stub Hub. Ticket holders who can no longer attend the game post tickets and their requested price. The difference from other sites is tickets bought here are guaranteed to get you in the gate.
  • The university says the games you're most likely to come across bogus tickets are night games and the Michigan game.
  • (During one game they can see between 300-500+ fake tickets)
Brian Kaufman, owner of Dream Seats warns people of other sellers on street corners and websites like Craigslist. His company does secondary ticket sales, but he says they protect buyers.

"The advantage of coming to us, we know all of our sources. We verify our season ticket holders and we know where every single ticket came from," said Kaufman.

Kaufman held up a pair of authentic OSU football tickets and explained he had already sold the tickets and emailed the barcode information to the buyer.

He said the problem is, the paper copy ticket still exists and other businesses or people could take advantage of that. If it were resold the purchasing person would not know the barcodes on the paper tickets are no longer active.

"It's frustrating that there are people out there doing that sort of thing," said Kaufman. "The con man's best asset is your emotion. You're a buckeye fan and you want to go to the game and you want to get a good deal. Remember, if the price seems too good to be true, it is."

Columbus Police say a man previously linked to a felony ticket scam involving Ohio State football tickets is up to his old tricks. 66-year-old Martin Alper was arrested again this week after police say he tried to sell a woman tickets he did not have on High Street.

Investigators say Alper told a woman he had tickets to the OSU vs. Michigan game that he would sell to her for $100. He told her that if she gave him $20 at that time, they could meet up later to get the tickets. He also told the woman his name was Mark Dinardo.

The woman called police when Alper failed to show up to several meetings the two planned after the initial cash exchange. A warrant was filed for Alper this week. Police arrested him at his home on Monday.

Records show Alper was arrested back in 2007 for similar felony ticket scams. Investigators are trying to figure out if there are additional victims linked to his latest alleged scam.

Hey guys, I have a question about Faculty tickets. I have a pair for the Nebraska game but do not have an ID. I know the ticket says that one is required, but the person I got them from said that they've never checked his (he's a staff member) and he's had others use his tickets many times. From everything I have read it doesn't seem like they are strict with faculty tickets, but I'd be curious to hear anyone's experience along these lines and if they've had to show id. Thanks!!!!

I’ve been to dozens of games at the Shoe, including every tsun game since I was a little kid. This year I’m considering an angle I haven’t ever tried before and I wanted to see if anyone has any input.

Has anyone here gotten two single tickets in C deck that are back to back seats in consecutive rows. If so, would you recommend or not? I’m going with my lady, who has been to the last 4 tsun games.

Thanks for any help.

I did this in 2015 for the PSU game. Got 2 tickets in A deck in row like 4 and 5 right behind each other. It was perfectly fine. Now granted it was with a buddy and not a wife.
