Ok - I hope Im not the only one, but does anyone else here get simulation sickness? It seems that any time I play a first person game - in about 15 minutes Im getting pretty nauseous. Sux too - because seems like many of the cool games out now are first person. Thank God NCAA isnt.

Anyone else get this too?

I can't play flight simulation games when I'm tired without feeling disoriented. More disoriented than usual, I mean. :p It doesn't seem to be a problem otherwise.

I've read the problem stems from the fact that your body and mind expect to experience the same movement, and needs practice dealing with conflicting sets of information.

It happens to me when I play some of the games that turn and move faster. Timesplitters 2 comes to mind. I can typically play Red Faction 2 for a long time without getting sick.

It also helps to play the 4-player mode, because you concentrate on a smaller portion of the screen.

I've played Counter-Strike for like 5 years, and 2 of those years were competitive gaming CS. I can play and not get sick, but I can't watch others play and NOT get sick. I think the fact that I know what I'm doing and where I'm looking/going helps. When other people play, I don't know, and that's what makes me sick, I get dizzy alot.

When you die in CS, it usually tosses you into 1st person mode for a player who's still alive, and unless it's someone I know playing, I try not to watch.

Any other CS playas out there?

Nope, just neck stiffness. And I'm pretty sure I play videogames more than anyone here.
Are you sure? I have 500-600 games, not including ROMs and MMORPGs on my computer  I haven't had much time to play the last 4 weeks though because I'm in my final quarter of school.
I don't think I've ever gotten this simulation sickness you speak of. Sometimes my hand will get a little cramped maybe, or my butt'll hurt from sitting hours on end in a WoW dungeon, but no sickness I can speak of.

I only play a few games on my computer, but when I was at my brother-in-laws house last year he was playing some car game on his big screen. At first I wasn't sure if it was the beer or the game. I decided it was the game and the best cure was to drink more beer.

I used to play too many games in my early years of college...yeah...that was a bad idea :( I didn't feel so good for awhile because I was pining for a girl I lost the first year of college. Would play 6-15 hours of Diablo II, Final Fantasy, NCAA Football, or something else each day. I don't play THAT much anymore ( normally :wink2: ), but when I'm not busy with a project for programming I'll hop on WoW or something else all day.
