He earned a bachelor's degree in education from South Carolina in 1979. Dantonio later earned a master's degree in education from Ohio University in 1980.

Not sure they were using that avenue to keep athletes eligible back then. I think the path for the Simple Jim's of Ann Arbor was either kinesiology or communications. In all fairness, for us it's sports management and communications. In any event, according to Harbaugh himself while he was at Stanford, he wanted to major in History or Political Science, but the coaches wouldn't let him and shuffled him off to the communications department.
