SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

I think there is a decent chunk of DFBIA contingent that are "content" with Harbaugh. Based on the "its could be worse" logic. The whole fan base got rattled from the Rich Rod and Hoke disasters, to the point where they are mostly ok with the once appointed "savior" phoning in 8/9 win seasons.

At this point Michigan is not a destination job, if they can Derpy or he jolts back to the NFL they are basically banking on hitting a home run with a unproven assistant or a lower level head coach. I guess you could say Ryan Day was in that "unproven" as a head man category, but he also got the keys to a ferrari. scUM is handing over a 1994 honda accord.

There are no Ryan Days on that staff. At best, I think they could point to Ryan Day as an excuse to finally break out of their insular "michigan man" nonsense and think creatively about how they move that program forward. Nah, the cultural inbreeding and fart smelling up there is too strong, and the fear of DickRod too recent. They'll fuck it up again.

but of course we don't want that so we will just keep stuff like that to ourselves

and let's put a spoiler on that word if we're gonna use it ok? It's offensive to Ohio Americans.

Curious about this, I took a look at their staff - and then for comparison, at our staff.

There is literally not one coach on their staff who I would consider to be head-to-head better (or anywhere close to equal) than his counterpart on our staff...

Head Coach - Harbrau vs. Day - Advantage tOSU
OC - Josh Gattis vs. Kevin Wilson - Advantage tOSU
DC - Don Brown vs. Kerry Coombs/Greg Mattison - Advantage tOSU
Running Backs - Jay Harbaugh vs. Tony Alford - Advantage tOSU
Wide Receivers - ???? vs. Brian Hartline - Advantage tOSU
OLine - Ed Warriner vs. Greg Studrawa - Advantage tOSU
Tight Ends - Sherrone Moore vs. Kevin Wilson - Advantage tOSU
Dline - Shawn Nua vs. Larry Johnson - Advantage tOSU
Linebackers - Brian Jean-Mary/Don Brown vs. Al Washington - Advantage tOSU
CB's - Michael Zordich vs. Kerr Coombs - Advantage tOSU
Safeties - Bob Shoop vs. Kerry Coombs - Advantage tOSU
Special Teams - Jay Harbaugh vs. Matt Barnes - Advantage tOSU

Note - they do not list a WR coach on their staff. If the DFBIA is still struggling to find an explanation as to how DPJ fell from 5* to draft afterthought, I might have a suggestion......
Also, they have corporate/booster sponsorships for their head coach, coordinator and OLine positions? Is that really a thing?

OL coach is the only one they can make an argument for

Whoever is after Harbaugh is facing a major uphill battle from the start due to the climate of average/mediocre that Harbaugh has normalized up there. They wont have that "HE COACHED IN THE NFL AND WENT TO A SUPERBOWL" claim either.......which hilariously enough has gotten Harbaugh not very far. So Michigan probably becomes even less desirable to recruits at the start.

Kids these days know Michigan for getting smashed by Ohio State and losing badly in bowl games. It would take at least a string of a few years in a row to even start to change that perception. They arent a program who can live off of the tradition of the "glory years" since the Glory years were in the earlier part of the friggin 1900s. High School recruits could give about zero shits about that.

Umm, Bill Cower? Jon Gruden? Bill Bellichek?

So what’s everyone’s gut feeling on how Harbaugh is handling the George Floyd protests with his players? I’m sure it’s with the nuance and open-mindedness required to not cause issues in that locker room.

He's actually been somewhat out front on things. I seem to remember him being publicly critical of Kaepernick and maybe even dropping an "all lives matter," which led to a huge blowback a few years ago. Maybe his opinions have changed or maybe somebody is coaching (wrangling?) him not to offend 99% of the black families in America.

He started by saying he didn't respect Kaepernick's "motivations or actions" back in Aug '16. Then walked it back and said he just didn't like the actions.

But to be fair, he's been on the front foot of things more recently

I have zero doubt that they would be in way better shape today if they had kept Richrod.

Id go more with Hoke. He recruited better and did a better job with the material he had, whereas I thought Dickwad tried to force players to fit into his scheme.
Hoke didn’t leave Harbaugh a QB, but he left him with better talent than he inherited.

Hoke's record got worse with every year. At least dickrod's got better. Of course he set the bar about as low as it could go in 2008
