As much as the rumor mill goes on about this team and that team looking at him... I have to wonder if his lack of College results has poisoned the well. I'm sure it's cooled interest from at least some parties. But I suppose it only takes 1 to bite.

I doubt it. Look at some of the retreads that keep getting NFL jobs. It'll just be written off as, "he's a better nfl coach than a college coach." And he did take a team to a Superbowl. That's going to blind a lot of GMs and owners. I'd guess that both the Bears and Colts reach out to him. He may not be their first, no doubts pick, but they'll contact him.

Come to think of this, maybe SimpLLLe Jim is playing three dimensional chess while everyone around him is playing checkers. Maybe this has been his plan all along to come back, soak tsun for ridiculous amounts of money and then leave them high and dry for the nfl, all in some plot twenty years in the making to pay them back for telling him that he had a broken brain and wouldn't be allowed to major in History.

There's got to be some red flags between his past (NFL owners talk ?), his behavior, his personality, the results ... but as you say, NFL is a circle jerk desperate to hire the same small pool of people over and over again.

This.

He really thought what he was doing would bring results. Now he is starting to second guess himself and with a head case like him that ain't good.

That said, I do believe he has an excellent chance of taking a team to the playoffs - but only if Trailways is hiring him when Michigan lets him go.

Jim Harbaugh does not posses the self awareness required to have self doubt.

I agree he looks like he checked out this year but I'd be willing to bet a nut that while there is some indescribably weird shit going through that brain of his there is nothing even resembling self doubt.
