Should tOSU/UT be a rivalry?

I think so. We are both fanatics about our college and high school football it makes sense for us to be rivals. Not to mention it was great to have this game to look forward to over the past 2 years. The 'highs" and the "lows" all made it an incredible game.

I dont know if it will make a difference, but made a petition to send to the AD's of each school. If you agree we should play Texas on a regular basis, sign up.

I like what tOSU is doing now. It would be good to play them in the regular season a couple times every 10 to 20 years.

I hope they keep rotating the marquee matchups with Texas, Oklahoma, USC, Miami. I'd be willing to add Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, and/or Nebraska in there.

Cal and Va. Tech aren't at that level historically. We may have wanted those games for geographical recruiting purposes, though.

And only 5 to 10 teams need to be in that rotation. For some reason, I'm saying the hell with ND and Tennessee.

Nah, I like the idea of playing a variety of traditional powerhouses. We've got USC, Miami, Oklahoma coming up in the near future.

The game loses it's luster if it's played every season I think..........that is unless they are in your conference.

No. I'd rather schedule a different traditional power every two years as is being done now, and we'll let the BCS decide if we're to ever play Texas again.

Besides, if we started playing UT every year, before too long we'd own them and then what kind of rivalry would that be....kinda like the one with Northwestern?

I'd have a home/away series rotating every six years with teams from the SEC, Big 12, and PAC 10. For example, have series with: Florida, Nebraska, USC; Georgia, Texas, UCLA; etc. Of course, if Notre Dame ever got the balls to accept, put them on a home/away series, too.

Texas is great, but playing them two years out of every four is a tad overboard. I would have Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska as our three Big 12 schools within the six year conference cycle, thus we'd play a home/away series with each of these schools every 18 years. For the SEC, I'd have Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia (top three all-time winningest SEC teams, percentage-wise). For the Pac 10, I'd have USC, UCLA, and Washington.

I'm not a fan of reoccurring non-conference agreements like Mich-ND. I'd much rather see OSU play a wide variety of top opponents in different parts of the country like they currently have scheduled. Not only does it expose OSU to a wider national audience, it gives alumni a chance to see a game in their area. I'm already looking forward to trips to USC, Miami, and VT.

So is Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, California, Alabama, and Pennsylvania. Keeping this as a rotating schedule keeps games like this fresh. Playing against teams like Nebraska, Miami, USC, and many SEC teams, is more appealing to me than being stuck in an ongoing series with one team.

I like the idea of spreading it around. I don't particularly like 2 game series. Lose them both - however close - and you give the other team unlimited bragging rights. (Not that it has worked badly for us to date - we do OWN Notre Dame after all.)

I don't know anybody that would like that schedule. Odds of going undefeated are slim and none most years...probably every year. Teams all demanding return dates don't do much for the box office, which is extremely important to the university. And, I'm sure the coaching staff wants a glorified scrimmage or two to get some looks at players and practice a thing or two.

Fans might like all of the marquee matchups, but they wouldn't be as special that way, and would slowly lose their appeal. I think what the Bucks are doing right now is on the money. Farewell, Texas...nice that our paths crossed. See you in a bowl someday.
