Shots fired in Cleveland, Ohio area high school

CLEVELAND, Ohio - At least three people have been shot at Success Tech School in Cleveland.

According to EMS, two people have been brought out of the school on stretchers.

Police are searching for a 14-year-old gunman, who they believe was upset about a suspension. According to reports, police believe the gunman is still in the building.

CLEVELAND (AP) - A gunman opened fire in a high school on Wednesday, and a witness said he saw three people taken out on stretchers. Ronnell Jackson, 15, said he saw a shooter running down a hall at SuccessTech Academy.
"He was about to shoot me but I got out just in time," he said. "He was aiming at me I got out just in time."
Another student, Doneisha LeVert, said she heard the principal say "Code Blue" over the public address system, and the students started running. She said she hid in a closet with some of her friends.
Tammy Mundy, 38, who has a son and daughter at the school, told The Plain Dealer of Cleveland that her daughter called when the shooting started.
"She said, 'Mom they're shooting in here, kids are running out, I'm hiding in the closet,'" Mundy told the newspaper.
Then she called her 18-year-old son, Darnell Rodgers, on his cell phone, and he told her he had been shot in the arm.
"He said, 'Mom I got shot,'" Mundy told the newspaper.

I park my car in the parking lot right next to that school. AND I can see the tape that roped off the area from where I work downtown. Pretty freaky it is so close.

But is it bad that my biggest fear is that either my car got shot up, or that the parking lot is roped off and I won't be able to leave work in a little more than an hour???

14-year-old suspect apparently killed himself after attack, police say

CLEVELAND - A gunman opened fire in a downtown high school on Wednesday, and five people were taken to a hospital, the mayor said.

The suspected shooter, a 14-year-old male student, was killed after the rampage by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Mayor Frank Jackson later said SuccessTech Academy had been secured. "We have no reason to believe there's more than one suspect," Jackson told reporters gathered outside the school.

Seriously, what the hell is up with kids deciding it's a good idea to bring guns to school? I remember when I was a kid the story went around about the kid who stood up in class and blew his brains out, we thought that was scary as hell, now they come in and shoot everyone then themselves :(

The High School I went to is now locked up during the day, has metal detectors and armed security guards, how did things actually come to this? Whatever happened to the idea that if you had a problem you got into a fight, got detention and a few days later life went on?

i'm not that far removed from HS (i'm 26) and things are night and day different, its incredible

Just an observation based on 20+ years spent living on the same street as five buildings full of Section 8 housing...

What parents? Most were single moms, still in their teens, whose mothers had been single moms, still in their teens, whose mothers had been single moms, still in their teens.

While I tended to see only African Americans I understand that the same thing was true in many poor white neighborhoods.

Gotta agree here, but also beyond that the parents that just don't care, no matter how much money that have. The mom and dad who are more worried about making sure they are seen at the big social event rather than taking time to make sure their kids have homework done, or go to football practice.

Or the divorced parents who use the kid as a pawn in their little games, or just ignore the kids needs because they are to busy planning their next date or trying to relive their youth instead.
