He played on a quality team in regards to Michigan high school standards. I've seen a lot of Michigan fans excuse the poor numbers based on the talent he played with, but his teams always stayed competitive score-wise in Michigan.

I guess I could see that excuse working if he was only bad in games against out of state competition. His numbers are just flat out bad in general though.

I've always heard he lit up the 7 on 7 drills and passes the famous Herbstreit "look test". We'll see if that translates to anything at the next level.

Did he not have Mono last year also? I am in a wait and see mode, but I would love for Michigan to get another prospect at QB.

He was said to have mono this past year but that doesn't explain the equally mediocre numbers the year before.

He is a boom or bust prospect.

He catches this much flak because of his high profile personality (complete with wristbands and very manly M hand gestures) and his ranking. If he would have checked in as the tenth best qb in the country I think the fawning over the camp performances would have gone over better.

The other problem is that the talent pool was a train wreck last year for quarterbacks. Even if you want to move him down, how many can you truly move up?

Morris is a good example of why you need fluid amounts of five stars. He should not merit that lofty status just because he is the best of that years crop. If he isn't a five star then the #3 qb should be a four star.

I could careless if he's a one star if he can get the job done. What you were rated in HS really does not matter now.

Will see what happens on the field.

Eh, Tom Brady was a second thought at UM as well.

I see UM winning 8 games, 9 max with their roster this year.

It's revisionist history with Brady. Don't act like it isn't. Most wanted Drew Henson to start and were disappointed when Brady beat him out. Especially after dropping the first two of the season to notre dame and Cuse. It's not new information.

I can agree many weren't happy with him beating out the over hyped Henson, then losing the first 2 games. He bounced back though and went on to have a pretty good season setting the record at UM for completions in a season (at that time). His biggest problem that year was INT he threw 12 that year. He cleaned that up and went on to have a good Sr year throwing half as many only 6 INT to 20 TDs. Then went out on a high note beating Bama in double OT. Throwing for 369 yards and 4 TD. I don't think people were too pissed off with Brady at that point. So it was new information to me that he wasn't really liked until he suited up for the Pats.

This is my exact memory as well.

I did, later, see Drewbie play baseball while he was with the Yank's AAA club when they swung through Toledo. Third base, right?

Most Michigan fans didn't love Tom Brady until started for New England. And I say that as a Michigan fan.

Now that's taking fair-weather-fandom to the HNL: "Sure, he won 20 games in two years, including one in The Game and a BCS bowl, with a Big Ten co-championship... but he's no Drew Henson. Wait--now you say he's a Super Bowl MVP?! That's my M*ch*gan Man!"

Why do some people think Gardner will go pro after this year? Are we talking about the same Gardner that didn't even cross midfield in the second half of the game? And was 3-2 as a starter? The amount of Hype Gardner and Morris get for doing absolutely nothing is very amusing. My HS QB had stats that were better than Morris.
