Actually, Yes I did. Do you know him?

I only know him as a previous customer.

I inherited an original H&B Forge 'hawk from a family member who took it to Vietnam. When I discovered they were still around in the 90's I picked up a new one and have bought a few other things from him since then.

Are you happy with it? Much difference between the old one and the new one?

I've been very happy with it. Tough steel, holds an edge very well (but of course a bit harder to sharpen), well balanced and just generally a well made 'hawk. Only real difference between the two is that the steel of the older one is just a bit softer (easier to sharpen but loses the edge quicker). I don't know if Will uses a different steel than his father in law did (I believe Will uses 1095) or if he just heat treats to a different hardness. Either way it's not better or worse, just slightly different trade offs.

FWIW H&B tomahawks are very well regarded as great budget tomahawks within the various groups that use them. Bob Thalmann (the original owner of Two Hawks before he passed and about the most knowledgeable guy around) was very complimentary of Will's work. For the price you won't find much even in the same ballpark let alone better.

You bought a great product and it should serve you well for many years.

BTW If you didn't pick up a sheath from H&B yet...get one now. They are insanely cheap for the quality of leather used.

(Hmm maybe we should move this to it's own thread lol)

Well, duh. I keep coming over here looking for hilarious MS Paint with dicks and longhorns, and all I see is a bunch of weapons geek conversation.

[censored] that. Bring on the hilarious dicks and longhorns (and blockhead Chiziks).

:pissed:
