SG Luther Muhammad (transfer to Arizona St.)

Just thinking out loud here:

Re: Washington State, USC, And Arizona State are potential destinations, per source

Being from New Jersey I would have thought some east coast school like Seton Hall or St Johns would be his destination of choice. However, maybe he's looking for a school that needs a player with his specific skills.

Re: He will sit out next season before having two full years to play beginning with the 2021-2022 season.

Sitting out a year has to be really rough, so you must really dislike (something about) where you are currently at to go that route.

Looking at the other option: I just wonder if he has "burnt his bridges" at Ohio State and/or there is still a path for him to actually stay.

If his frustration is that he wants to handle the ball and run the offense more, then I prefer that he transfer to Holtmann giving him what he wants. His feel for the overall rhythm and pace of an offense and how to manage one is not good. I believe I described it a while back as being like the guy on the dance floor who's always a little bit ahead of the beat.

wouldn't be surprised if the deciding factor was his high school teammate's (quinerly) earlier transfer to arizona. same conference and only 100 miles apart.

then again, the true deciding factor is probably that muhammad and the hurleys are from the same neighborhood. hudson catholic is literally a mile away from st. anthony. i'm sure it's the same league.

to find something that feels like home, luther had to travel farther away from home.

I know Mickey Mitchell's career went to die there but it was also dead on arrival
because his parents killed it. held him back so that he'd be old (read: more physically mature) for his class. focused on his physical development too early. probably pushed him beyond his growing body's capabilities, thereby causing injuries. probably rehabbed too fast. hyped him up so that he'll never live up to the absurd expectations.

mickey and mike are what you get when parents try to raise athletes instead of children.

too bad, really, because i've never heard anything bad about mickey and mike as people. never got the impression that either arrived with bloated egos. their parents just helicoptered them out of ohio state.

I hear the girls are nice down there. Can't say much about the basketball program, I know Mickey Mitchell's career went to die there but it was also dead on arrival
They just got a commitment from their highest ranked recruit ever, higher than James Harden in Josh Christopher, a top 10 player. Also already have Marvin Bagley’s little brother, Marcus, the 35th ranked player committed. I graduated from ASU, girls are top notch, city/weather fantastic but basketball facilities and following, not so much.
