Russell is the most gifted shooter amongst the newcomers. But a prerequisite to scoring is playing. I think the importance of defense and rebounding are going to get Wheeler and Branham both more minutes than Russell, and they may well end up scoring more even without being as good of shooters.

Louisiana transfer guard Cedric Russell isn’t among those in the primary rotation for Holtmann’s team so far this season. A prolific shooter at the mid-major level, Russell has taken two 3-pointers and missed them both in 11:48 spread across two appearances. He missed one game due to a death in the family but did not come off the bench against Xavier. Russell also did not arrive at Ohio State until early September while finishing his degree.
