SF William Buford - 4 BTT Title Games, most Buckeye starts (Virtus Roma - Italy)

I like Buford more and more every game! This kid's shot is just so smooth it's unbelievable. Last night though, I saw a little bit of nastiness out of him a few times on the defense end when he hit the boards. If his defense keeps improving this kid is going to be the man before we know it.

The future looks bright.

Unless the future is going to the nba.

Like Turner, I expect that he'll stay for at least a second year, if not longer. He seems to be enjoying the college game and developing his skill set. He also doesn't seem to be surrounded by a greedy entourage ready to cash in on him.

Even if he is a 1 & done, he seems to be the model 1 & done player - good kid, good teammate, listens to the coaches, plays hard, helped OSU quite a bit on the court while he was here. There are 4-year guys that did less for OSU than Buford will do this season.

Not sure where to put this post so I will put it here. I will be very interested in seeing what happens to Buford's minutes when, and if, Lighty comes back this season. There is no comparison between Buford and Lighty when it comes to shooting the ball. I guess the big question would be does David's all-around game beat Buford's. I know who I want to have the ball or at the foul line in the last minute of it 1 or 2 point game.

If Buford keeps improving it will be an interesting dilemma. But did you see that graphic about how much worse our defensive numbers and %'s have been since Lighty went out? They were pretty dramatic! They included ND and MIA so not all due to the cupcake factor either.

I'd say Lighty goes back to starting and playing a lot, but would agree that I want Buford on the offensive end at crunch time - particularly for FTs.

One interesting thing though is that even when Buford seems to be lighting it up, he then throws in some bad shots and brings his %'s back down by the end of the game. I look at the boxscores and think he shot well but then will see 4/9 or something like that. He actually is shooting 42.7% from the field while Lighty, thanks to his 7/8 last game, is holding at 47.1%. But overall I think Buford is the better shooter and improving each game.

Lighty is our leader though and his defensive work is very critical. I would hope that when he returns we'd see a rotation somewhat like we had before he went down. Maybe he plays a little less than 32.9, and WB plays more than he was before, but the difference being that WB gets KM's PT at that point as well as what DLi gives up ( in part because he won't be 100% right away anyway and may need to be brought back in slowly and ramped up over time ). I am not a fan of Madsen, so he would be back to emergency foul insurance only, IMO!

i see only upside in lighty coming back. thats essentiall four similar type players (diebler, buford, turner, lighty) to play 2-3 positions on the court. that means to me i can expect higher levels of intensity from each player. but hey thats how i view life...

He has tremendous potential. His future looks bright no matter where he plays. :)

I agree. With all the one and dones these days in college hoops, I'm just going to appreciate them while we have them. And be thankful that we are able to recruit that type of talent!

I see Buford as at least a two year guy though. (Keeping fingers crossed) :)

I am not that big of a NBA draft guy but from what I have heard this year's draft will be very weak after about the midpoint of the first round so as much as I would hate to see it I don't think he will be here next year. See Cook. Very similar players IMO

Obvioulsy, but pg is an easier position to jump up the charts than a 6'4'' wing player...
I really don't see that much of a difference between Buford and Cook and Buford is getting more minutes. Maybe Cook was a little bigger but I think Buford's shot is almost sweeter. Cook also probably played against tougher competition (AAU) then Buford did so maybe he is a little tougher but I am not sure about that.
