you needed overtime to beat Miss. State.

those 3 teams went 5-19 in conference

you've played 3 teams that will be in the playoffs.
and went 1-2 against them getting outscored 66-44.

i’m not opposed to change if that’s what you’re hinting at.
but you can also take changes too far and rather than “fix” problems, you just create new ones.

i think conferences going from 10 teams to 12 or 14 and creating the divisions and championship games was a GREAT change.

16 to 18 teams is going too far and creating a whole new set of problems.

I liked going to 4 teams in the playoffs. and felt 6 or at a max 8 would have probably been better.

Going to 12 created a set of issues that shouldn’t even exist.
Expanding to 16 or more won’t solve the problem it created, it will actually make them even worse.

we seriously trying to find a way to fit all of the 2 loss teams in.
Expanding far enough to make that happen opens the door for 3 loss Texas.
Which means 3 loss Michigan and USC will bitch and well have to argue that point until we get to 24 which many years will mean 8-4 type teams get in.
Until we realize there’s a shit ton of those so we go to 32, etc.

6 or 8 is all you need (i lean toward 6).
