oh please enlighten me then.
because here is what happened.
44 (former) NCAA athletes filed a suit against the NCCA for their fifth year of eligibility.
only 2 of those 44 are connected to LSU football in any way.
so at the end of the day, the SEC is going after LSU for recruiting and trying to sign two guys that have been paid a combined total of $50k by the NFL.
two guys that were technically speaking eligible for LSU to pursue.
two guys that LSU is not even putting on their roster until a final ruling is issued.
that’s what this is.
players that the court said was eligible, so LSU went after them.
Players signing a contract and getting paid to play basketball overseas? no problem, eligible to play in SEC.
Players signing a contract and spending multiple years in the NBA g-league? no problem, eligible to play in the SEC (until his NCAA eligibility was overturned).
Players trying out for an NFL team but getting cut? no problem, eligible to play in the SEC.
Players signing a non-guaranteed contract, never stepping foot on an NFL practice field, never stepping foot on an NFL field for games, and receiving ZERO money from the NFL?
sue their asses!!!!
do you think that NONE of those other guys were recruited by the SEC schools they came back to play for?
or did they just magically teleport onto campus without and previous contact at all?
and i’ve said before in this thread, i don’t think ANY of these players should be eligible. at all.
but the precedent was already set before LSU went after any of these kids.
but NOW it’s a problem.
and let’s not kid ourselves about the SEC.
their reputation is very well know.
but NOW all of a sudden they are acting sanctimoniously and filing lawsuits over two players that combined have never even played in any preseason games of their professional sport. Let alone multiple seasons in a pro league.
Charles Bediako played 3 SEASONS in the NBA G-League and made over $500k during his career.
No lawsuit by the SEC.
SEC didn’t try to stop Alabama from playing him (until NCAA rules him ineligible).
SEC allowed him to participate in 5 games for Alabama.
LSU gets commitments from two guys that never even made it into a fucking preseason game. combined to make a whopping $50k.
and until this gets cleared, hasn’t even been added to the official roster yet.
Lawsuit!
Texas has a guy that actually participated in NFL mini camps for two teams.
no problem.
LSU has a guy that never participated in shit (injury prevented him from taking part), never got paid anything at all.
oh no, no, no!!!! can’t have him. he signed a piece of paper (same exact type of paper that was apparently cool for Bediako to sign).
