SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

I think it's stupid a CONFERENCE can make a rule like this, but of course it's a Georgia fan complaining about it. With all the talent they have, the fact that they rely on this gimmicky bullshit so much is pathetic. The SEC should make a rule enforce the rule that coaches need to keep their Kirby Smart asses on the sidelines and not on the fucking numbers for every play.

SEC RULE CHANGE #1 - I absolutely hate it.

Watch the video and tell me this makes sense.
Old BP football coaches, I’m sure you taught your offensive lineman to hold their butts still until the snap - one of the first things taught in football.
Doesn’t matter how the defense shifts, fakes a stunt, stands or drops down, you hold still.
Now that’s all gone.

You just know that coaches are going to teach their offensive lineman to jump as soon as they see a defensive opponent, shifting and resetting position (stemming).

No offense to @BigWoof31 but somehow this doesn't surprise me given how the SEC SEC SEC nerds are getting desperate to return to the top of the sport. Those in power can't stand the Big Ten zoomed right past them once paying players became actually legal.

It's not the stemming or shifts that's being made illegal. If another defensive player flinches to simulate the snap in concert with that to draw a false start, that's now illegal. I'm actually ok with this.

They're also trying to eliminate the gamesmanship with defensive substitutions by saying the defenders have to substitute with an athletic pace, which i'd also be all for in the B1G.

Now someone needs to define "athletic pace".
But I always said, if the offense sends in a substitute, the defense should just sit around sending subs in and out at a nice, slow pace. The offense will get a delay of game every time. It's hilarious to see the defense rushing to get on the field before the snap - they aren't allowed to snap before your team is done with substitutions.
There should be some better way to do this. If the offense substitutes, they aren't allowed to snap for 15 seconds. 20 seconds. Pick a number. But you shouldn't give the defense all of the 40 seconds to substitute. And I'm more than a little amazed that I've never seen the defense try to take all of the 40 seconds.

None taken at all.
I just don't see how the two are correlated.

An ill conceived rule that's applicable to only league play wouldn't impact the playoff or OOC games?

It's called desperation. Grasping at straws. Whatever you want to call it.

Envision a moment where this call could be called in an SEC SEC SEC game but isn't in an OOC game or playoff game where an SEC school loses? And if that particular play is key to that loss?

One thing the SEC does very well is they play the long game pretty well. They want to open this door so any controversy would work for them, i.e. "See, we did it THIS way, and THIS play wouldn't have counted, etc etc etc".

Who gives a shit if the SEC has a rule that seems to parrot the NFL rule.. who gives a shit if they use it for nefarious purposes to enhance the likes of Bama over the cocks... who cares if they use it as an excuse ... if they even do...

Heres what I think. The SEC went short term with the like minded short term thinkers at ESPN. Say what you want about Delaney but ... solid academic institutions, unified for more than athletic purpose alone, along with its vast alumni and consequently, money... leveraged into even more money through the B1G network and expansion plan. (Hint, it wasn't about Maryland or Rutgers. It was about NYC and DC)

Moreover, the SEC s weekness has been its small footprint. Well... it ain't getting much bigger. The B1G goes from NYC to Seattle to Los Angeles. .. Chicago... Minneapolis... Detroit... Pittsburgh.. Philly... Baltimore....

SEC has Dallas and Atlanta.. NoLa.. what else, market wise?
