And also, not being a "beast" isn't really a knock on him. Having the big, power back is nice but matching that with some "lightning" is not going to hurt you. The dude is explosive, agile and a threat to hit the home run every time he touches the ball. He makes the option w/ Pryor (hopefully) a very scary idea. Golden is a smoother back but people will me more scared when Toussaint touches the ball. We don't need 3 yards and a cloud of dust anymore...

Kid could return punts, kickoffs, give 10 carries a game, catch the ball out of the backfield...Lots of things he could do...

Also he looks put together pretty well in the picture in the first post...

I am sure the 185 is a reach, but there is no reason if he is close to that he couldn't reach 200 205 after a redshirt season...

I'm not trying to knock this kid at all, I just think that some people get a little over excited about a kid way too early in this process! We just finished(almost) gettting our class of '08 signed and already people are calling kids the next Reggie Bush. OH's Div3-5 are not exactly loaded with the best competition, and tOSU usually looks at bigger faster backs(usually around 6ft and above and 200-220lbs). From what I've seen Tress usually uses 1-2 RBs in his sytem, we're typically not a RB by committee team, like say UGA or USC who can play up to 3-4, and maybe 5 RBs in a game. We play 1-2 of our best RBs and the rest watch. Maybe this kid could be a nice special teams compliment, but I don't think he's looking for that at the next level especially if he's a feature back now. Like I said though, that's my opinion.

There are a bunch of RB's in college ball around his size and weight in HS. tOSU has had some rather diminutive (By Beanie, JWells and MoC standards) Combs was slightly built, as was Wiley. Snow, and Pitt were not "big" backs either, and it would not suprise me if Robert Smith was above 190 as a junior in HS (admittedly taller tho) With the Offensive line the Bucks should have in the next few years, a smaller home run hitting guy could excel, as he'd be hard to locate behind the monsters up front, and by the time you find him, the angle of pursuit is a lot tougher on someone who can fly.

At 5'10" 185 as a HS Junior, I could see him growing maybe another inch and putting on easy 10-15 pounds by even the end of next year, without losing a step.

I do not know whether we have room for both Jordan Hall and Fritzgerald Toussaint. They seem to have similar size and speed.....and there's speculation floating around that Jordan may have been offered this weekend!

Either ways.....Toussaint looks great and I agree that he certainly can add a few lbs and height. Yeah, I don't think height is a big problem....I remember a certain Darren Sproles from Kansas State who is tiny at 5-6 but has speed on his side! He's doing ok even in the NFL.

:biggrin: No he didn't!!! He was in serious contention for the Heisman however, especially after the Big 12 championship game against the Sooners if I am remembering correctly. He has been fairly solid for the Chargers too!

Anyways, the point is that height is not really an issue as far as RBs are concerned, and Toussaint should be a good one at college level.

I am turning the corner...would like to hear that all his ducks are in a row and then I would probably still want to see him come to camp to prove he is the man for the job, but I love how he operates in space. As someone else on another site pointed out today speed tends to be overated when it comes to RBs. Quick feet and the ability to explode through gaps is much more important.

Glad we are turning you around on this one...:tongue2:

I agree with all you said about speed being overrated, but you really have to love his ability when he has the burst to go along with the speed...

Exactly why Toussaint is so dangerous. Not only can he explode through the hole and possesses great acceleration off his cuts, which enables him to use that blazing speed for the home run. I agree the staff should see him in person but I can't imagine him not being in this class. Personally I would be thrilled with Hyde and Toussaint, possibly Golden.
