Henne - 60.2% completion percentage, 2,743 passing yards, 25 passing TDs, 12 ints, 2 rushing tds

Hart- 1,647 total yards and 10 tds in 10 games

Yeah, but they are really overhyped. LOL.

You see, they actually stayed healthy and PRODUCED for an entire season.

Get back to me when Ginn does something at WR becasue right now he is getting every single ounce of hype that he has from his skills as a punt returner.

When was the last time a punt returner won anything?

They didn't produce much when it counted (The Game, Rose Bowl). If anything, they're overhyped more than any pair of players in the country. Then again, they play for Michigan.

Ginn is getting "hype" because he can do it all. Of his 8 TDs, 4 came on punts, 2 on passes, and 2 on runs. Oh yeah, his 2 pass TDs were 59 and 58 yards.

As for when was the last time a PR won anything, try your boy Desmond Howard...

LMFAO. Yeah, go ahead again and compare Ginn (a one dimensional speed WR who can run about two routes) to one of the greatest PASS CATCHING WRs in history.

Ginn had freaking 25 catches for 300 some yards and 2 tds last season at WR.

Take out his punt return numbers and he has nothing.

Like I said.... ALL HYPE.
I wonder if he ever bothered to look up Tim Brown's stats before writing this. Personally, I had no need to ... I was watching it happen before my eyes and knew Teddy has a running start at a fine career that stands every chance of stacking up against Tim's

http://und.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/brown_tim00.html
Note the games started / played as a Freshman and Sophomore

It is obvious that Ginn has gotten of to a faster start.

Then see the uptick in those stellar Junior and Senior years.

And that's just one more reason why I'm hopeful about Teddy's Soph, Junior and Senior years..

If he really believes that Scum has more talent, what does that really say about the Michigan football organization? Since tOSU is 3 out of 4 with JT, we must have superior coaching and game planning, or could it just be our team has more heart and wants it more?

I hate when children post crap like that just to inflame a board.

Well, I don't know if anyone wants to continue this discussion with a nontroll U of M fan, but I'll give it a shot.

Here's my take:

QB: Michigan. Just my opinion. This could change, but with Smith's off field troubles and somewhat sporatic play, I'll give the edge to Henne, who was a rock last year.

RB: Michigan. Nothing to argue. With three extremely skilled backs, we'll actually be running many 2 back formations, it appears. And before you point out that Grady is unproven, so too are Haw and Wells.

WR: OSU. We have better depth, but Ginn is better than Breaston, Holmes is better than Avant, and Gonzalez is better than Dutch/Tabb/Arrington. In any case, both schools have a hell of a unit here. You guys tend to dismiss Breaston's skills since Ginn is better, but he's still pretty damn good.

TE: Michigan? I'm not familar enough with OSU's tight ends to argue this, though. We return both Massaquoi and Ecker, who are quite good, so I would expect us to have the edge here.

OL: Michigan. While I've no doubt OSU's line will improve, so too will our 4 returning starters. We'll miss Baas, but Long was our second best lineman as a sophomore.

DL: I'll have to pass here, too, as I don't know much about OSU's unit. It'll be the strength of our defense, but that might not be saying much this year.

LB: OSU. Nothing to argue.

DB: OSU. Nothing to argue. Ugh.

Overall: OSU. Our offense is better, but your defense is a lot better. Thankfully, The Game is in Ann Arbor this year.

Finally, with respect to the old "Tressel owns LLLLLLLLLLoyd" line, I'll say it again. This is a game with parity where the home team has a huge advantage. The home team is 3-1 since Tressel took over, which, apriori, is what I'd expect. I do admit, though, if OSU beats us this year, there'll be a whole lot of squirming up here. :ohwell:

Pretty much agree with all you said. It's hard to say about the DL, as you have a veritable stud in Watson, and we have a lot of "good" players.

And it will definitely be considered a "trend" if the Bucks go in to Ann Arbor and come home with a 'W' this year. 3-1 is a nice run. 4-1 is a trend. We are expert in that feeling when a few losses starts to escalate into something more. It is not a happy feeling.

For going an extra theMile to try an inject sanity into the polluted H2O of this thread our visting sane tSUN fan should get plenty of green chiclets:

Well I don't know that we dismiss Breaston's skills, its more a case of proof positive needed. Edwards was a known 24 carat performer, Breaston was never the #1 receiver. How well Breaston will play without Edwards taking double coverage? How well will he handle having the bullseye on his back and his share of double cover schemes?
Those are huge questions for the team up north in 2005.
Where things do look potentially very bright at WR for tSUN is in 2006 - 2008/9. If your new blood of Manningham and Bass lives up to their HS billing tOSU will need the kind of speed corners and safeties JT loves to recruit. (And always seems to get O'Neal / Lenix ).
Overall: OSU. Our offense is better, but your defense is a lot better. Thankfully, The Game is in Ann Arbor this year.
Fair assessment, and to which I respond -- Defense wins championships.

I bet there will be squirming a plenty in AA at that prospect. For that would undo HF advantage --
Record by Ohio State in JT Era Series vs tSUN -- Home 2-0, Away 1-1
One thing for sure this will remain the numero uno rivalry in college football for good reason.

I'm just referring to many Buckeyes' tendency to respond with "Well, we've got Ginn! Neener neener!" to whenever we bring Breaston up. Ginn might have the best moves of any reciever in the country, but we think Breaston is #2, and are excited about that.

You can't really look at their overall performances last year for proof positive. Edwards was so dominant last year that Breaston and Avant suffered for it. Also, both, especially Breaston, had injury problems. Both did extremely well two years ago, which is where our confidence stems from. We focus on what they can do when healthy; for example, Breaston's performance against Texas, and Avant's unbelievable catch against Iowa two years ago.

I am just jumping in without reading the entire thread, but I agree that if you are going to compare team talent you have to do it within the context of the team and how those players are used.

Ginn came on late and OSU - struggling without a running game - did a lot of 'non-tratitional' stuff to get him involved. With better RBs and OL this year that becomes a luxury more than a necessity. Regardless of everything he did we never put the fear of God in anybody going off tackle the entire season.

Until we prove something on the field I would have a hard time arguing OSU can field a better 'traditional' (one and two back set) offense than Michigan. When it comes to The Game I like that. We know who Michigan is and we know who they will be in November. I look for OSU to demonstrate that they can put a far better 'traditional' O on the field this season, but all year long JT will be working on different packages for that one game. That will make us very difficult to prepare for.

As for the D - God I love our D.

Speed kills.

It sure is refreshing to have outsiders post objectively, even when they lean toward their team (which is why they are fans of that team in the first place). I gave TheMile a GPA, which may be the first given to a Michigan fan. It will be enjoyable hearing from him in the months ahead as The Game approaches us for the 102nd time.
