QB Willy Korn leads No. 6 Byrnes (S.C.)

No teams dropped out of the National Football Top 25, but former No. 4 Bellevue (Wash.) slipped to No. 25 after it lost to unranked Issaquah (Wash.).

1. Mission Viejo (Mission Viejo, Calif.) – (8-0) *1
Last Game: Defeated Trabuco Hills, 54-14.
Notes: Senior quarterback R.J. Toman completed 13-of-18 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns, including two to senior fullback Chane Moline, who added two rushing touchdowns.
2. Lakeland (Lakeland, Fla.) – (9-0) *2
Last Game: Defeated Osceola, 56-0.
Notes: Lakeland clinched its 17th district title by crushing Osceola. Junior fullback Jamar Taylor ran for three touchdowns, senior quarterback Billy Lowe completed 6-of-8 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown and ran for 69 yards on three carries and junior wide receiver Paul Wilson caught five passes for 94 yards and a touchdown.
3. Southlake Carroll (Southlake, Texas) – (9-0) *3
Last Game: Defeated Grapevine, 28-23.
Notes: Grapevine trailed Carroll, 28-23, with 1:05 remaining and was on the Dragons’ 16-yard line. However, Carroll cornerback Anthony Ford halted the upset bid by intercepting Steven Headley to preserve the win and extend Carroll’s winning streak to 25 games.
4. Longview (Longview, Texas) – (9-0) *5
Last Game: Defeated North Mesquite, 21-14.
Notes: The Lobos remained undefeated with a narrow victory over North Mesquite. Quarterback Carlin Freeman threw three touchdown passes, including a 46-yard scoring strike to Chris Ivory in the third quarter that proved to be the game winner.
5. Independence (Charlotte, N.C.) – (9-0) *6
Last Game: Defeated South Mecklenburg, 41-6.
Notes: Quarterback Darryl McFadden threw three touchdown passes to RaDon Ingram as the Patriots won their 86th straight game.
6. Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.) – (10-0) *7
Last Game: Defeated Mauldin, 51-0.
Notes: Byrnes used its passing game to dominate Mauldin. Willy Korn threw for 316 yards and four touchdowns and fellow quarterback Daniel Barton tossed three touchdown passes. James Anderson hauled in seven receptions for 176 yards and two touchdowns.
7. Springdale (Springdale, Ark.) – (9-0) *8
Last Game: Defeated Fort Smith Northside, 52-0.
Notes: Damian Williams and Matt Clinkscales each scored three touchdowns to lead Springdale to its second straight AAAAA-West Conference title.
8. Landstown (Virginia Beach, Va.) – (8-0) *9
Last Game: Did not play.
Notes: Landstown will play Green Run on Nov. 4.
9. Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) – (9-0) *10
Last Game: Defeated Mesquite, 21-0.
Notes: Senior running back Cody Engelbrecht scored two touchdowns and senior quarterback Colby Harris threw for 155 yards and ran for 81 yards.
10. Glenville (Cleveland, Ohio) – (10-0) *11
Last Game: Defeated Cleveland JFK, 63-6.
Notes: The Tarblooders capped an undefeated regular season by capturing their ninth straight Senate Athletic League title. Bruce Frieson ran for 213 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries, Arvell Nelson threw for 155 yards and four touchdowns and Daven Jones had 115 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Glenville opens against Euclid in the Division I Region 1 playoffs.
11. Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg, Pa.) – (9-0) *12
Last Game: Defeated Cumberland Valley, 22-7.
Notes: Sophomore Mike Jones ran for 162 yards on 19 carries, while junior Dave Onorato ran for 121 yards on 13 attempts.
12. Joliet Catholic (Joliet, Ill.) – (10-0) *13
Last Game: Defeated Rich Central, 72-22, in the first round of the Class 6A state playoffs.
Notes: After crushing Rich Central, the Hilltoppers will take on Batavia in the second round on Nov. 4.
13. La Marque (La Marque, Texas) – (8-0) *14
Last Game: Defeated Texas City, 28-7.
Notes: L.J. Castile ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns and threw for another score as La Marque remained undefeated.
14. Lufkin (Lufkin, Texas) – (9-0) *15
Last Game: Defeated The Woodlands, 42-17.
Notes: Mandela Roberts and Leonard Hewitt each returned interceptions for touchdowns and Jamie Harris brought back a fumble for a score to key Lufkin’s win.
15. Warren Central (Indianapolis, Ind.) – (10-1) *16
Last Game: Defeated Lawrence Central, 59-17, in the Sectional 5 semifinals.
Notes: Warren Central will now take on Lawrence North in the Sectional 5 championship. Lawrence North handed the Warriors their only loss this season.
16. Abilene (Abilene, Texas) – (9-0) *17
Last Game: Defeated Cooper, 40-0.
Notes: Quarterback Taylor Potts threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns and wideout Lyle Leong Jr. caught four passes for 166 yards and a touchdown.
17. St. Xavier (Cincinnati, Ohio) – (10-0) *18
Last Game: Defeated Moeller, 31-7.
Notes: Sophomore running back Darius Ashley ran for 176 yards and two touchdowns to lead St. Xavier, which takes on Fairfield in the first round of the Division I Region 4 playoffs.
18. Gilman (Baltimore, Md.) – (7-0) *19
Last Game: Defeated Loyola, 14-0.
Notes: Senior running back Sean Price ran for 158 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries.
19. Camden County (Kingsland, Ga.) – (10-0) *20
Last Game: Defeated Bradwell Institute, 48-22.
Notes: The Wildcats capped an unbeaten regular season with a win over Bradwell Institute.
20. St. Joseph’s Prep (Philadelphia, Pa.) – (8-1) *21
Last Game: Defeated North Catholic, 35-0.
Notes: Senior fullback Ryan Bradley scored three touchdowns to lead the Hawks.
21. Lincoln-Way East (Frankfort, Ill.) – (10-0) *22
Last Game: Defeated Thornton, 38-21, in the first round of the Class 8A state playoffs.
Notes: The Griffins overcame a 21-16 third-quarter deficit. Senior quarterback Anthony Kropp threw for 217 yards and a touchdown. East will play Lincoln-Way Central in the second round on Nov. 5.
22. Riverdale (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) – (10-0) *23
Last Game: Defeated Oakland, 42-7.
Notes: Seniors Gaston Miller and Antwaun Smith each scored three touchdowns as Riverdale won its 25th consecutive game and 70th consecutive region/district regular-season game.
23. Westfield (Spring, Texas) – (7-0) *24
Last Game: Defeated Beaumont West Brook, 42-14.
Notes: Senior running back Terrance Sweeney ran for 259 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries and senior quarterback Pierre Beasley ran for two touchdowns and threw for another score.
24. Neshaminy (Langhorne, Pa.) – (8-1) *25
Last Game: Defeated Bensalem, 45-7.
Notes: Senior running back Jarred Kinney ran for 138 yards and two touchdowns and has now run for 1,279 yards and 15 touchdowns.
25. Bellevue (Bellevue, Wash.) – (7-1) *4
Last Game: Lost to Issaquah, 31-28.
Notes: Bellevue had its 30-game winning streak snapped by Issaquah. Ironically, Issaquah was the last team to beat Bellevue, which occurred on Sept. 25, 2003. Issaquah’s Bryan Jones completed 11-of-17 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown. Bellevue quarterback Eric Block ran for 138 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. The Wolverines remain in the Top 25 because they were without their leading rushers, Thomas Zaffino and Anthony McQueen, for most of the game. Zaffino played only one quarter with an ankle injury and McQueen didn’t play.
