Scholarship Breakdown by Class

Just completed the update to move the class forward to next season.

I believe Antuan Jackson will come in as a redshirt sophomore. I also have 6 redshirts from last years frosh class.

There are also some medical redshirt candidates but my understanding of that process is that the redshirt year is not granted until a fifth or sixth year is needed.

As it stands we now have an enormous junior class, but I am sure that will shrink as NFL declarations proceed.

11 WRs and 12 LBs would indicate that position moves are inevitable.

Our total scholarship roster is now at 87 which should leave plenty of room for more recruits.

Corrections are welcome.

Didn’t Conner take medical retirement? I seem to remember that being the reason he wasn’t in summer camp.
He's got a thread in the rumor mill about this which was "confirmed", but at this point, he's still on the official roster... so the confirmation on BP was premature

Connor and the staff haven't said anything about his status with the team that I know of, but we ought to hear something one way or the other by the time spring ball rolls around

Completed the mass update for the incoming and outgoing classes.

https://sites.google.com/site/scholarshipbreakdown/home

I have removed Bosa, Weber and Jones.

I wont add Nester until he signs and not sure what to do with O'Shaughnessy.

I also added Saunders.

(note - the info below is off by 5 - corrected in later post)

By my count we have 82 schollarship players. Nester will take us to 83. Fields would get us to 84.

As regards next year's recruiting class ...

We have a senior class of 20. There will likely be a few more NFL departures (hopefully very few more) and your usual transfers and medicals. But any of those who are in the new senior class wont have an impact on next year. I also would not be surprised if we didn't get a grad transfer or two.

In any case we should have plenty of room for the 2020 class.

Thought Barrow medically retired?

He did.

82 - Nester/other
83 - Fields

Probable departures: Haskins, Hill, Arnette
Possible departures: Fuller, Sheffield

So before adding any random guys (beyond Nester's 82nd spot), they may have 27 spots in the next class (plus early departures like Young, Okudah, etc). That's a huge luxury for a new staff entering its honeymoon period in recruiting under Day.

My original count was off by 5. We have 86 players on scholarship not counting Nester or Fields.

Still don't see any problem with the numbers or next years class.

I do find it interesting that we 37 scholarship players on O (only 12 OL) and 46 on D (14 of them linebackers). Look for a lot of movement.

Thoughts on Jordan leaving early?

Yes, he should have been included, though there are drumbeats that he is returning. He's the best prospect outside of Haskins but also stands to benefit the most by moving back to guard.
