I think what people saying here is pretty accurate. We need to beat Texas this year for sure. Had we beaten them last year, I think we could have gone undefeated. With a bye before the Penn State game (I think it was) we did not show up to play that game. We could have easily beat Penn State, especially if the game was at home. After watching the game last night, I saw Texas have problems against a defense that was nowhere near as good as ours was, but the problem with that is the fact that we lose a lot of our defense next year.

Provided we have a defense that is solid next year (maybe not as good) we should do fine since TS will be starting every game and has proven himself to be an excellent quarterback and true leader. I see Ohio State going down to Glendale next year for the NC, who else is with me!? Go Buckeye's.

I know our offense will be good next year but will our defense be able to play at the same level as this year. Holmes, Mangold and Sims are pretty much the only really good offensive players that are leaving. On defense there are about 6-8 good players and about 2 really good players leaving. This scares me a little bit. The only player i know stepping up next year will be #33(sorry i dont know how to spell his name). Does anyone else know who will start on defense next year?

I'm not saying we'll beat Texas or not BUT I happen to think that the defensive line next year will be better [and more deep] and will make up alot of the difference in the drop off from LB. With that said if a LB or two steps up and exceeds expectations [I think Freeman is going to be a BEAST] than we might not see much of a difference as you all think.

we have a really good d-line comimg back with the time of some younger players doing there turn to step up .Kudla lost is bad but, wilson,worthington,d'andrea and all the 2nd teamers coming back will cause a big time strength on or defense

All the lb'ers are young but, they all have the talent to be really good ones.
AT least we have that with some really good kids showing there stuff already and ready to play.
IT would really suck if we had to find some new recruits to be are starters with not ever playing on the field.

OSU IS A RELOADED SCHOOL ALREADY ,NOW ITS THE NEXT ONES TURNS TO BE THE NEXT GREAT PLAYERS

I tell you, I knew hawk and carpenter were going to be good but, as great as they have been just blew my mine. Those two talk up the youngerster like wilhelm talked them up and looked what happened

We very well could go undefeated next year.We're gonna have one of the best offenses in the country next year,and I don't think our defense is gonna drop off that bad.I think our biggest two games are Texas and Michigan.I think we can beat Texas,especially if Vince Young goes to the NFL...and I know we can beat TSUN,after 2006 Tressel will be 5-1 against those lowlife bastards up north.

im not nearly as optimistic as some regarding a perect season....there will be growing pains, i assume everyone remembers the 2003 season coming off a national title......u cant lose this many starters and just expect to reload....it didnt work for salley and whitner right away and i dont think its gonna work for mitchell and o'neal or lyons....kerr, hoobler, d-andrea, freeman, and lauranitis have enormous shoes to fill and it will take time for them to gell as unit...lauarantis looked good as a frosh but he was also playing next to hawk and schelgel when he was in there....our d-line is really gonna have to eat some o-lines up....i think our offense is really going to have to win some ball games for us, which is scary because it normally takes the buckeyes half the season to really get it going and we play texas in our second game of the year.....im thinking another 10 maybe 11 win season with the bowl game

@ Iowa will be no cakewalk.

Thank you. I think you were the first person to mention that. I think @ Iowa will be a very tough game because they will be looking for payback, and will want to show the rest of the world that they can be contenders for the B10 after this year. Also, Kinnick is never an easy place to get a victory.

My toughest games:

@UT (if VY stays)
scUM
@Iowa
PSU
@MSU (I don't know how much they return, but I do know that Ringer and Stanton come back. What about their WR, defense?)
Minn (I know they lose Maroney, but they return a lot of everybody else. Could be higher, but it's at the horseshoe).

If Only we had charlie weis. 9 months to prepare, can you imagine?
Hahahahaha!

Seriously I think our offense will be so good next year that we won't have to worry about the drop-off in our defense. Just look at USC, they had a great offense and a medicore defense. It'll be different than everyone expects, but if we can play big offense and just get by on defense we can make a run for it.
