I dunno...I was mixed. A lot of people who bitched about it on imdb and such just didn't get it, and didn't want to get it. I thought the story was better than the first 2. The acting I also thought was better (not saying much) but I really like Tobin Bell and I think the guy who played Jeff was also good (I believe he was in Braveheart too). If you rent/buy it, try to find the unrated version, because if you miss the over-the-topness of it, then you really kind of miss part of the point. I imagine the cut down theater version was that way.

As for the sequal, yes, there will be a Saw IV, but no, it will not pick up where this one left off...it will be a prequal to the first one, so they can keep Tobin Bell with a prominent role.

And I disagree with the snuff film analogy, if you put yourself in the shoes of the main character as you are watching, it is a better story than some give it credit for in my opinion. That said, a few things still don't end up making any sense either.

I agree, there will be a sequel, for a couple reasons. One the tape at the end, and secondly his contract. It will most likely be a prequel, and I really hope they don't try to keep him alive or anything like that.
EDIT: Probably about the woman in the flashback.

I thought it was pretty good. Definitely very disturbing, though, almost disheartening. I litterally felt at rock bottom after leaving the theatre, just because the movie is so devastating for some many of the characters, and so depressing.

But you gotta love how a movie can get that out of you.

IMO, "Saw" was really good. "Saw 2" was not as good as the original, but still wasn't bad. "Saw 3" was horrible. Save your $4.50 rental fee at Blockbuster.

Personally I thought the 2nd one sucked balls. 1st was the best, but I thought 3 was damn close. Course with these types of movies, you're going to have 500 different opinions.

Who is the director of SAW? He has to be one sick fuck to come up with this stuff!

Funny thing is, I read an interview online with these "splat pack" directors (Wan, Rob Zombie, Eli Roth, etc.), and Wan admits in the interview that he is an extremely squeamish person and couldn't even watch some of the shots that he himself came up with.
