Preview• Matchup to watch: This could get messy. Savannah State likes to try to force turnovers, and does so nearly once every four of its opponents’ possessions. Problem is, the Tigers turn it over nearly 28 percent of the time. Aaron Craft and Shannon Scott should be active. Stephen Wilson and Cedric Smith are the visitors’ top thieves.
• Notable: Ohio State has won 36 consecutive nonconference games at home. … LaQuinton Ross had 38 points and 17 rebounds and made 13 of 22 field-goal attempts in the past two games. … Savannah State is coached by Horace Broadnax, who was a guard on Georgetown teams that won the NCAA title in 1984 and was runner-up in ’85. … The Tigers’ leading scorer, Rashad Hassan, was voted Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference preseason player of the year.
• Next: North Carolina-Asheville, noon Saturday, Value City Arena
Yup, I noticed their scores when I looked at their schedule and thought that maybe they held the ball a little bit. However, defensively they tried to pressure from what Bob Baptist is writing.Litl, if you look closely at their schedule they have not given up more than 58 points against any of "FBS" teams (i.e., the 345 or so teams in the top division) this season. They must play a hold the ball style - they even held Florida to 58, which is hard to do. This has all the makings of another MEAC snoozefest. I wish OSU would generally stop scheduling teams from that league because they are one of the worst conferences in college basketball, every last one of them you know is going to have a bad RPI, and the teams typically play a slow tempo. How much more would it cost to play an awful Toledo team than an awful Savannah State team? I don't fully understand why they play a teams like Savannah State, Coppin State or Florida A&M when they could easily get MAC schools to give them a game. I wish they wouldn't play any games vs. MEAC teams unless they were actually competitive (such as Norfolk State last year).

I tend to agree regarding the scheduling. I don't see what benefit the team is getting out of playing such a bad nonconference schedule. I guess the only thing that can be said for it is that the majority of the other teams in the conference do the same thing. I don't know maybe it's for exposure purposes for recruiting because we will be seen by the other team's fans. However, I would like us try and upgrade the schedule a little bit and play some MAC teams. It certainly would benefit our RPI is nothing else but our RPI will definitely increase when we started playing in conference.
