S/LB Tyler Moeller (official thread)

This is the most recent info I have heard on Tyler:

I read the article in the "Buckeye Sports Bulletin" yesterday where he said he is back to light lifting and training. Said the hardest part about the entire process is trying to take it slow and not come back too quickly. The guy only has one gear so I can imagine it is tough to pull back on the reins a little bit.

Apparently he had some dizzy spells while lifting back in december when he 1st began some early training stuff but has since had no return of symptoms of any kind. I'm sure he will be closely monitered throughout the spring. Any signs of the return of bleeding into the brain and his career is likely over. He also said his intensions are to be on the field in the spring. If he contiinues to progress, all signs are pointing to contact drills some time during the spring in preparation for a possible return this fall. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I hope he does get his shot to return. Unfortunate situation that could be oh so sweet if the Bucks have his added energy and motor on the defensive side of the ball next year.

Go Bucks!!!!

I'm going to be honest - I hope he stays off the field. The last thing any fan wants to see is Tyler take a big hit and lay on the field wondering if he can ever function again in his normal life.

I feel terrible, but I don't think he should ever risk his brain for football. And I don't think he should take the chance to find out.

I heard from a source connected to the team that as of last night Moeller's lifting has been limited to non-existent. Not surprisingly, his general movement has been severly restricted until recently. The source claims that if he can't lift, he can't practice. Long way to go though.

honestly, after hearing about the possible complications that could arise should his brain start bleeding again, i agree. this is terrible, one kid's promising football career could be potentially ended because of one drunk asshole tried to show how tough he was.

This is total BS.

This guy gets his case continued a countless number of times for putting someone into the hospital (and damn near killing him) yet my co-worker's daughter can't get a continuance in a BS "rolling stop" case, and her reason for the continuance request is the fact that she is in high school and has a test schedule the same day. Seriously, where is the justice in that? :shake:

The "daughter's" court is not in cahoots with her.

Decker trial finally set

By the time Ralph Gray Decker goes to trial on June 2, more than 10 months will have passed since he punched OSU linebacker Tyler Moeller in a Florida bar/restaurant.

Moeller's head hit the floor, and he suffered a subdural hematoma (bleeding on the brain) that forced him to sit out the 2009 season and put his football career in jeopardy. Moeller has resumed working out and is hopeful he can play this fall, but that's still questionable.

I did not write that Decker "allegedly" punched Moeller, because Decker does not dispute that fact -- good thing, as there were numerous witnesses. He is charged with felony battery, but Decker's attorney has said his client acted in self defense.

The case has been continued a half-dozen times since August. The two sides have spent months gathering depositions from many witnesses.

Today, a trial date was finally set in Pinellas (Fla.) County Court.

Stay tuned, though. It's not a definite that this case will even go to trial. A plea deal is possible.
