In the post before that one I identify it as the college formula. I used the same formula in the post you quoted.

These are much easier two understand: http://boards.espn.go.com/boards/mb/mbZurp;1977691; said:Great. Now I have to read TWO posts to understand what you're talking about? This game is two hard for me.
Yeah, it's pretty early to pass any judgement on Kaepernick. He was always seen as pretty raw...his potential ceiling was his draw. Harbaugh has a good track record with QBs, so if we'll see if he can develop him. Also, people passed on Mallet because of off-the-field stuff, not talent.3074326;1977868; said:I don't think second round picks that haven't played real NFL games yet say much about a coach's likelihood of success.
Keep in mind that it wasn't just Jim Harbaugh that passed on Mallett. The entire league did, most of them twice.

Well, he's in his first year, and was left with Alex frickin' Smith. It's not like he was left Joe Montana, or hell, even one capable QB. I don't know that I agree with them re-signing Smith, but it's not like there was much out there besides him. Plus, I think they're aiming at Luck next April...buckeyesin07;1977936; said:When your QB decisions to date have left you in a position where you're calling a guy like Daunte Culpepper, who hasn't been a starting QB in the NFL since '05, let's just say you aren't doing so well so far.
buckeyesin07;1977931; said:Granted, the number of coaches that passed on Mallett is more than 1. But Harbaugh picked a QB in Kaepernick that I don't see ever doing anything at the QB position in the NFL, and, in doing so, passed on Mallet. That is a dumber decision, IMO, than any other NFL HC made in passing on Mallet. That point aside, not all teams needed a QB, so your "entire league passed on him" argument isn't convincing.
