Yeah, I don't disagree. I thought France was just going to lap everyone else and the tournament would be for 2nd place, but I've simmered down about that. I still think they're a notch ahead of the rest of the field, but the others (save Italy, of course) seem pretty well balanced. England's down, but not as much as it maybe seemed after losing to Scotland. Scotland's best side in decades, but they still only managed to beat the Poms 11-6. Ireland's enigmatic, as ever, but neither of their flyhalves is going to win the tournament for them. Wales is right there for it on the outside and is capable of beating or losing to the French.
Mil Stadium is definitely on my list. We tried to do a 6N side trip when we were in Belfast in 2017 and tix were completely sold out and the after market was ridiculously expensive. Gotta love their enthusiasm for it.
My wish, and I think it will happen at some point, is that the Springboks move into the 6N. Toss Italy and add ZA, now you've got a field.
SA left those relations and will focus on an England tour. Tired of a tournament that leaves them with so much jet lag, but COVID issues are what sealed the deal.Having spent a lot of time in SA, I doubt they'll ever leave their Kiwi-Aussie relationships. It's the core of their identity, and leaving the tri-nations ( or whatever they're calling it this week) for the 6N would be like Ohio State, Wiscy or tsun leaving the Big Ten for the SEC.
My understanding is that they're also sick of the Australian Union's entitled attitude relative to their dismal performance in the last five years or so. Oz is basically meatchicken.
