Router, networking, etc... questions and help please

Merry Christmas, BPers... Got a new wifi bluray player, and need to upgrade the router from our g to an n.

No idea what I'm shopping for, and could use suggestions...

Not looking to spend a ton of cash ($70); do I need dual band or gigabit ethernet and all that stuff?

What do you have? What do you suggest?

Just think- I'll be able to make smart ass comments online even faster now. Hooray!!

I would recommend the Linksys E2500 router. 79.99 at most retailers (Staples or Wal-Mart would be your best bet)

I wouldn't get GigE simply because you are only going to be able to get to the interwebz as fast as your main internet connection. N-band (100MB) is plenty unless you're running your own LAN/media servers/etc.

I don't know if you have a Microcenter near you, but they are selling Linksys Wireless N routers for $50.00.

MaliBuckeye, what about powerline adapters? My brother is using this in his home for connecting his xbox to the internet because running wires was not an option.

I saw this post, read the article and that's exactly what I'm using for my Live setup. For gaming I haven't had many problems except for today I kept losing connection, but that was the first time I had problems and my adapter is one from AT&T U-Verse. Seems like a viable option.
