One thing that I should have mentioned in the originial post....

Over the past five years, the Buckeyes faced Vince Young, Brady Quinn, Tim Tebow, Mark Sanchez, Jake Locker, Colt McCoy (twice), Darryl Clark (twice), and Chad Henne (thrice ... four times if your want to go all the way back to the 2004 season). This season, they went up against Tate Forcier and Matt Barkley, each of whom the media has anointed "the next big thing". Go back a few years and you can add Philip Rivers, Kyle Orton, and Josh Cribbs to the list. After playing all of those quality quarterbacks (not to mention NFL journeymen like Drew Stanton and Curtis Painter), the Buckeyes were supposed to be intimidated and embarrassed by Jeremiah Masoli? That argument just never made any sense....

So next year, when all of the haters say, "OMG! The Buckeyes have never seen a quarterback like Jacory Harris!!!!" you can say in return, "Oh, yes they have."

First the media spread the perception that we and the Big Ten were way down which probably was an over reaction.
Second the media spread the perception that even though USC was clearly down for various reasons, it was still USC and a great victory, by Oregon(this proved not the case but many still disregarded all the evidence.
Third, Oregon was arrogantly reading and believing their press clippings. After all, if all the talking heads said it was true that we were a paper tiger it must be true! Just show up and win the Rose Bowl!
Wisconsin's win over Miami should have provided some evidence to the contrary but again, the win was written off for some reason not clear.
Then State Penn beats an SEC team and again, all the signs were some how ignored.
So, bottom line it appears the media are not in any way capable of providing objective, logical talking points about Big Ten quality. This may have actually helped us win as Oregon never seemed to adjust to the actual circumstances of the game. And Chip and his staff may have showed some naivete in falling for their own hype. But, we ended just a better team than the entire Pac Ten this year(even though we lost to USC earlier in the year).

OK; what I saw:

1. The short passing game was on. Terrell and the WRs were on the same page. The loss of Ray Small and Carter was not noticeable though I suspect the other WRs slept very well that night.

2. Saine out of the backfield really creates problems. He's not Keith Byars (but then, who is?), but he had the Oregon DBs too busy.

3. Looks like knee surgery is going to be necessary for Terrell.

4. What was going on at right tackle? Looked like we were getting beat there on a lot of plays.

So far as I know, surgery is seldom indicated for a PCL injury.

Not disagreeing with you at all, LJB, but I have to say I've been impressed with the physical skill set of young Harris. His leadership and maturity, though, seem questionable to me based on what I've seen from his reactions to adversity - not good.

My questions around Harris mostly concern his decision making.
