"When we started 0-2 everybody was saying Pickerington Central was down, so it feels great to win our sixth straight OCC championship," senior wide receiver/defensive back Roger Lewis said. "We came ready to play."

Pickerington Central 42, Reynoldsburg 14

At a glance

* Star: Central's Roger Lewis, who returned the opening kick 95 yards for a touchdown and later returned a punt 44 yards for another score

* Key play: The opening kickoff, on which Lewis barely was touched past his own 25-yard line.

* Key stat: The Tigers led 21-0 just 4 minutes, 40 seconds into the game.

Roger Lewis, who has committed to Ohio State, returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown and later returned a punt 44 yards for a score as the Tigers won 42-14 and clinched the outright OCC-Ohio Division title.

It was Central?s seventh consecutive win after opening the season with losses to Cincinnati St. Xavier and Cincinnati Moeller, and its 10th in a row over the Raiders.

"Starting off 0-2, people counted Pickerington Central out and started talking about all the things we couldn't do," Lewis said. "We're 7-2 now and we're back. It's always a hyped game when we played Reynoldsburg. We had to start fast."

Pickerington Central 55, Dublin Coffman 14

The Tigers hurt the Shamrocks with three big plays during that stretch, as Devone Penick scored on a 39-yard run, Jensen-Clagg threw an 81-yard touchdown pass to Roger Lewis and Billy Eakins scored on a 41-yard run.

Lewis also opened the second half with a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

"We knew we had to make big plays to beat Coffman," Lewis said. "We work very hard on special teams, because that's what wins games. I used a burst of speed to get open on my touchdown catch and I got great blocking on my touchdown return."

Pickerington Central 24, Hilliard Davidson 0: Tigers exorcise demons with win | The Columbus Dispatch

Ty Wright | DISPATCH

Pickerington Central's Roger Lewis takes off downfield against Hilliard Davidson in a Division I regional final.

The game turned when Pickerington Central tailback Billy Eakins burst through a gap in the right side of the line and ran 53 yards to the Wildcats' 10-yard line.

Three plays later, Roger Lewis made an acrobatic, one-handed catch from 8 yards out with 9:56 left in the second quarter. He got one foot just inside the right sideline of the end zone.

"That catch, I felt I had to make a big play," Lewis said. "It's playoff time. We want a ring this year."

I can't wait to see what this kid will do in college. Not one of the wrs we have on our roster should have this kid thinking he can't crack the 2 deep next year. Our lack of a true deep threat or even consistent wr should allow the Frosh class to see the field early

Lewis a non-factor tonight

First, I would like to say hello to all the members and followers of Buckeyeplanet. I have been a follower for years and have decided to begin making my voice be heard.

Second, I went to the Pick Central game tonight. Pick Central won 14-7 in a defensive battle over St. X.

I went to check out Boren and Lewis as well as some other prospects being discussed on here.

Boren looks great and could slim up to be the next Boren at FB. I also sat near his brother Justin.

However, the reason I posted this in Roger's thread is because he did not start the game and was pretty much a non-factor the whole game and never received a target. He only played about 50% of the time and was on the sidelines for all kickoffs and punts. He did make a great block on the go ahead touchdown with 3 minutes left in the game.

He didn't appear to be bothered by any injuries and if so he didn't have the ankles or knees taped/braced. When Lewis was called upon to run a route he appear to just run through the motions. Did not see the explosive player that was in the scouting videos. Throughout the night it seemed like a lot of coaches and players had to keep lifting him up and he didn't celebrate much with the rest of the team when something big went their way.

Lastly, FWIW, 2013 prospect Taco Charlton (every bit of 6'6") was a non-factor as well and did not start the game for the Tigers.

Not sure what it was but believe Roger was hurt. Jacoby will bulk up and be an interior lineman, can't see him as a FB.

Taco hasn't impressed me the times I've seen him, think we can do better.

That is good to hear about Roger. I was beginning to worry that I was watching an unmotivated player that plays with little passion. However, if he was injured, to will himself to get on the field to at least be a distraction and another blocker. Again, the block he had that sprung the RB for the TD in the finals minutes was great. He came off the line and pushed the corner down the field with ease.

Also, I see it being a much easier task to bulk Boren up as well and him playing inside on the line. He is closer to Zach's size right now than Justin's so just figured I would mention that it isn't out of the realm of possibility that they keep him slimmer and play FB. However, the FB, may not be as big of a factor with Meyer coming to town.

Two Pickerington (Ohio) natives also chimed in?Roger Lewis, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound wide receiver out of Central High School, and Pat Elflein, a 6-foot-3, 285-pound offensive lineman out of Pickerington North H.S. Like Powell, both committed to the Buckeyes during Fickell?s tenure. There have been some rumors that Fickell may be asked if he would consider staying on board with the new coaching staff.

?I like this a lot, about Urban,? Lewis told Sporting News. ?I honestly think with him taking over a young team, we can make some things happen in the future and I know he?s a good coach and loves to put points on the board. That?s the game of football so it should be exciting for him to be my future coach.?
